John Cena is set for a huge match this weekend at Money in the Bank when he teams with Logan Paul to take on Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, and the longevity of his career has seemingly been revealed in true John Cena fashion ahead of the show.
Incredibly, it has been revealed that today, June 6th, marks 20 years since John Cena made his official WWE RAW debut. He was moved over to the brand as part of the annual draft and was the first all-around pick.
Cena made his WWE debut much earlier, but spent his career on SmackDown up to this point with his Doctor of Thuganomics character.
Cena went on to make a career for himself on the RAW brand, where he main-evented several WrestleManias and won a number of World Championships. It was against Cena that Edge famously cashed in the first-ever Money in the Bank contract in 2006 to become WWE Champion, but Edge lost the title back to Cena not long after, and this led to Mick Foley vs Edge at WrestleMania 22, with Cena main eventing against Triple H.
John Cena has always had a love-hate relationship with the WWE Universe
Cena was perhaps the most hated in his career back in 2006 when he defended the WWE Championship against Rob Van Dam at ECW One Night Stand. Since then, he has always had a love-hate relationship with the fans.
Cena didn't turn heel despite the hate until recently and has now made it clear that he will retire from WWE at the end of this year and will be taking the Undisputed WWE Championship with him.
Of course, this could only happen if Cody Rhodes can't win it back before the end of the year.
