WWE News: Edge praises Sami Zayn, would love to wrestle him

Zayn had been on the receiving end of a beatdown at the hands of Braun Strowman recently.

Sami Zayn is someone Edge wants to fight
The Underdog from the Underground vs The Rated-R Superstar?

Sami Zayn might not be having the best of times on RAW but he did receive a vote of confidence from the Rated-R Superstar, Edge. The former multiple time WWE Champion was speaking to Sports Illustrated and stated that he would love to fight the “Underdog from the Underground.”

Edge was asked if he had the chance to have one more fight, whether it would be against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania.

“Fact from a storyline perspective, coming off what we did on Raw in December of 2014, but there is any number of people. If you put a heel ‘Rated R Superstar’ with Sami Zayn as a babyface, that would be something I would like to do.

Seth is already set and already in a position where he’s OK, but if I ever came back, I’d like to wrestle somebody that I feel deserves to be in a top spot and show why.

Sami is a guy I look at and go, ‘Man, that guy is so super talented.’”

The retired wrestler also named another former WWE star as someone who he would like to face, his best friend Christian.

“I’d love to get in there as a heel with Jeff Hardy. I loved wrestling Jeff in terms of his selling and all those things, or a match against Christian.”

While Edge has been constantly seen backstage during WWE shows and has been a huge part of the successful WWE network with the Edge and Christian Show, Zayn has had a tough time on RAW.

Recently, the former NXT star was upset at the treatment meted out by Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon towards him. Zayn had to take on Braun Strowman and the former Wyatt family member won the match easily.

Foley stated that this was his way of punishing Zayn as Stephanie actually wanted the wrestler to be fired for not winning the Intercontinental Championship.

Zayn’s frustrations in recent weeks are certainly on the rise and there have been rumours that Daniel Bryan is trying his best to bring the NXT star to SmackDown Live.

Zayn would certainly have more opportunities to show his abilities on the Blue brand and could be one of the top wrestlers on the roster. The 32-year-old isn’t the youngest wrestler in the locker room and a move to SmackDown Live could be the perfect way to get his career back on track.
