Following a crisis of confidence after losing to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41, Gunther is back on top after winning the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW. However, The Ring General shared the heartbreaking reaction he got backstage following his historic victory.
The Yeet Master put up a lot of resistance in his title defense, nearly submitting the Austrian star once again. However, the 2024 King of the Ring winner battled back to put "Main Event" Jey to sleep and begin his second reign as World Heavyweight Champion.
Speaking on the RAW Recap after the show went off the air, Gunther revealed that no one greeted or congratulated him backstage after his title win. He added that he doesn't mind his colleagues not being happy for him because he's in the business of winning championships, not making friends.
"When I walked backstage today, there was no one. Everybody left. I guess all the other guys saw it on the screen, saw the finish and left to the hotels, traveled home or something like that. I like that. I enjoy the position. I don't need friends. I'm not here to make friends. I'm not here to bond and have lifelong friendships. I have a few friends and a great family; that's all I need. I'm here for business. I'm here to uphold the standard and the prestige of this great sport. I'm the sole representation of what really matters in professional wrestling and that's the reason I'm successful," The Ring General said.

Wrestling insider predicts what's next for Gunther
On a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer predicted a possible babyface turn for Gunther. With Seth Rollins having the Money in the Bank briefcase and a faction that's easy to hate, it could be the perfect storm for The Ring General's first run as a good guy on WWE television.
"I think Gunther's going to end up being a babyface out of this, based on the way they did the finish. He won clean, and obviously Seth is the guy on the brand, Seth is the guy, whether he's got the belt or not, he's the guy on the brand, and he's got the briefcase. I think Gunther's going to be a babyface," Meltzer said. (H/T Wrestling Inc.)
As of this writing, the world champions for RAW and SmackDown are heels. The mid-card champions are also technically heels, but Jacob Fatu is probably turning face after screwing Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank.
