Becky Lynch referred to Hulk Hogan as "the scummiest person on Earth" during an appearance on the May 5 episode of WWE's RAW Recap show. Legendary booker Dutch Mantell, formerly known as Zeb Colter in WWE, thinks The Man's remarks might have been a "work."
Hogan has divided opinion among wrestling fans since audio emerged in 2015 of him using racist language. Over the last year, Lynch has received the nickname "Becky Hogan" online due to her frequent presence in the main-event scene. The moniker trended after WrestleMania 41, where she replaced Bayley in a tag team match at the last minute.
Mantell, reporter Bill Apter, host Mac Davis, and WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long appeared on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine. Discussing Lynch's remark, Apter began by questioning why she publicly criticized The Hulkster:
"I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Why would she do that? Why would she go on social media and [badmouth Hogan]?" [3:45 – 3:59]
Mantell speculated that Lynch might have made the comment to play along with her new villainous persona:
"Well, if you mention Hulk's name and you're kind of up there and you're already a star in your own right and you say something like that, yeah, it's gonna get a lot of play. But Becky's a heel now, so if you can't explain it, it's just a work, and sometimes we even get caught into that. I love that stuff." [5:31 – 6:03]

Bill Apter on WWE's possible view of Becky Lynch criticizing Hulk Hogan
Mac Davis suggested that Becky Lynch might have risked her job by openly disparaging one of WWE's all-time greats. However, Bill Apter thinks the company's higher-ups have no problem with high-level talents like Lynch speaking their minds.
Apter also referenced Hulk Hogan's recent claim on Fox & Friends that he wants RAF to become "as big or bigger" than WWE one day:
"She's not risking her job. How is she risking her job? This [Hogan's WWE deal] is a Legends contract and the beer commercials, but he's talking about opposing them doing something else, so what are WWE gonna do when this new Hulk Hogan company runs all over them? He wants to compete with them." [6:21 – 6:49]
Hogan has not appeared on WWE television since the Netflix premiere episode of RAW on January 6. The two-time Hall of Famer received boos during a short promo segment on the stage area.
