SmackDown featured a heartwarming return.

The May 19 episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured some big moments as WWE continued the build to Night of Champions. However, one significant development that went under the radar saw NXT Superstar Yulisa Leon return to the ring after nine months out.

Leon teamed with Valentina Feroz on SmackDown, as they got squashed by Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. It was a showcase match for the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions, who were recently drafted to the blue brand. Nevertheless, a few WWE fans on Twitter did point out Yulisa Leon's return.

Her previous match came on the August 2, 2022, episode of NXT, following which the 27-year-old tore a ligament in her knee. Leon last appeared on the September 13 episode of WWE's developmental brand, confirming her ACL injury. She will hope to gain some momentum following her return to the ring.

The reactions to her in-ring return were mainly positive, although a couple of fans feel Yulisa Leon should have been treated better in her first match back. After all, she and Valentina Feroz were booked to put over Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn.

It remains to be seen what's next for Leon and Feroz after their appearance on SmackDown, but for now, they must be thrilled to reunite after nine months.

Valentina Feroz tweeted a heartfelt message after her and Yulisa Leon's appearance on WWE SmackDown

Feroz took to Twitter to celebrate her tag team partner's return. She thanked the fans for their support following her and Leon's match on SmackDown while stating how happy she was. The future looks bright for the two of them in WWE.

"OMG WE ARE BACK," Feroz wrote. "After 9 months we are back! I don't have the words to describe how happy and how grateful we are for all the love! Thank you to everyone who supports us, it's amazing to see how two latinas can crush the world together. YEEEES, YOUR FAVORITE TAG TEAM!"

The other women's match on this week's episode of SmackDown saw Asuka defeat Zelina Vega before The Empress of Tomorrow and Bianca Belair had a run-in. The two will face each other for the RAW Women's Championship at Night of Champions.

Elsewhere, on the blue brand, tensions continue to rise within The Bloodline, and Pretty Deadly won their first match on WWE's main roster.
