After facing John Cena at Saturday Night's Main Event last month, R-Truth wrestled JC Mateo on SmackDown, which was seemingly his final match on WWE TV. After this bout, Truth revealed on social media that he was leaving the promotion. It later came to light that his contract was about to expire, and the company had decided not to renew it. This news received major backlash from fans across all social media platforms and on the Stamford-based promotion's weekly programming as well.

During John Cena and Logan Paul's Tag Team Match against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, R-Truth made a shocking return to the company. The former multi-time 24/7 Champion took Cena out with the Undisputed WWE Championship, seemingly taking revenge for his Saturday Night's Main Event loss.

Michael Cole, Wade Barrett, and Pat McAfee were as shocked as everyone else in the arena. Cole highlighted that everyone believed Truth had left the company. Barrett hilariously replied that the 53-year-old legend might have thought that he wasn't released because no one from the company told him. Cole then agreed with his peer, saying that he had a good point.

"[Michael Cole- We thought he left the company.] Maybe no one told him. [Cole- that's a good point]," they conversed.

It remains to be seen what the Triple H-led creative team has planned for R-Truth going forward.
