WWE News: Roman Reigns discusses the change in his entrance

Reigns entering the ring through the crowd

What's the story?

In the latest edition of Chris Jericho’s ‘Talk is Jericho’ podcast, the former 3-time WWE Champion Roman Reigns revealed why WWE had to scrap his entrance through the live audience.

Safety precautions led to the change and Reigns began to enter from the Gorilla position like every other performer.

In case you didn’t know

Entrance through the crowd was symbolic to The Shield stable. Even after the trio of Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns fell apart, it was Reigns who continued to make his entrance in the Shield’s style.

The heart of the matter

In March 2016, during his feud with Triple H for the WWE Championship, Roman Reigns started to make his entrance through the entrance ramp like every other wrestler.

Roman Reigns admitted to Chris Jericho that making an entrance through the crowd was indeed cool but there were instances when things got 'touchy'. Reigns went on to reveal that once, his ‘package’ was grabbed while he was making the entrance.

Several such actions forced the WWE to switch that entrance style with a normal one as the safety of the wrestler was becoming a concern. ‘The Big Dog’ added that entering through the Gorilla position is much easier than making a way out through the live crowd.

What's next?

Roman Reigns is set to face his biggest challenge till date at WrestleMania 33 when he will be squaring off against The Undertaker.

Author's take

There are instances when the so-called fans didn't hesitate to attack the WWE performers.

When someone makes their entrance through a crowd, there remain chances that someone may attack the Superstar. Though the entrance looked pretty cool, WWE’s priority to ensure the wrestler’s safety must be respected.
