A former WWE personality recently made a notable statement concerning Vince McMahon and NXT. This revelation emerged shortly after a veteran's contract with the company was not renewed under Triple H's management.
In a post on social media, R-Truth announced his upcoming departure from WWE. His final in-ring encounter took place on the May 30 episode of SmackDown, where he suffered a loss against JC Mateo. Before that, the former United States Champion lost a singles match to his 'childhood hero,' John Cena, at Saturday Night's Main Event. Reports indicated that Truth's exit was met with shock and disbelief backstage.
Speaking on The Coach & Bro show, Jonathan Coachman and Vince Russo discussed that Vince McMahon would never have released a talent with the immense star power of R-Truth. The former RAW General Manager stated that Mr. McMahon always hated NXT. The reason was that it was Triple H's idea and not his own. He would instead have released someone from the black-and-silver brand.
The Coach stated that this dynamic required NXT stars to work even harder to secure a main roster spot.
"The other part of this is, we forget that Vince [McMahon] refused. I mean, it had to be an over-the-top star for him to bring them up from NXT because NXT was Triple H's idea and not Vince's idea. Vince always hated NXT. That's just a fact. He hated NXT because it wasn't his idea, and you [wrestlers] had to work overtime to get pulled up to the main roster," Coachman said. Vince Russo says Triple H doesn't know what he's doing in WWE since Vince McMahon left
The Game assumed creative control of WWE in 2022 after his father-in-law announced his retirement. In a recent video, Vince Russo heavily criticized the current regime.
On The Brand podcast, the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion stated that Triple H doesn't know what he's doing ever since Mr. McMahon's departure.
"Vince McMahon is not there anymore. You don't have a captain of the ship. You don't have anybody there keeping people in line and watching over people, and demanding excellence from people. And I'm just watching a show that, to me, consists of people that don't know what they're doing. At the top of that list being Triple H. I don't think this guy knows what he's doing," Russo said.
It will be interesting to see if WWE's Chief Content Officer has major surprises up his sleeve for fans at the upcoming Money in the Bank Premium Live Event.
