WWE stars Drew McIntyre and CM Punk will collide inside Hell in a Cell. Former WWE head writer Vince Russo reviewed the action from RAW and spoke about the history of the match.
This week on RAW, McIntyre walked out and confronted Wade Barrett about getting in the way last week when he was trying to neutralize CM Punk. General Manager Adam Pearce walked out to the ring and informed the Scottish Warrior that he would face CM Punk in Hell in a Cell at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event next month.
This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo recalled that when they were thinking of a name for the match, he suggested it should have been Hell in The Cell. This was to signify the importance of the cell as a decisive factor in the matchup. He felt the cell was supposed to be a character and not an indispensable structure.
"When I'm thinking of a name what am I doing? I'm rhyming. That's all I'm doing. So I came up with Hell in The Cell. The reason why it was Hell in The Cell because The Cell was supposed to be a character. Not a cell, not that you could have this match in any cell." [17:55 onwards]
During the same conversation, Russo detailed that somebody in the WWE production team may have changed the name without even realizing it.
"Can you imagine if you're still touting the same cell 25 years later? That was the whole idea of it. Somehow either somebody in TV was making graphics and didn't realize it. But it went from the cell to a cell which means you could have this match in any cell. That was the original concept." [18:33 onwards]
It will be interesting to see whether CM Punk or Drew McIntyre emerges victorious after their encounter inside the hellish structure.
