WWE News: The NXT Takeover: Chicago theme song comes from Chris Jericho's band, Fozzy

Chris Jericho formed the metal band Fozzy in 1999...

What’s the story?

Triple H took to Twitter to announce that the theme song for the NXT Takeover event will come from Chris Jericho’s band, Fozzy. The theme is Fozzy’s new single “Judas” from their upcoming album.

In case you didn’t know...

Fozzy was originally a cover band. Their first two albums covered bands such as Black Sabbath, WASP, and Scorpions. Their third album “All That Remains” was the first to contain completely original music.

The heart of the matter

The next Takeover event takes place in Chicago on May 20, 2017, which is the night before Backlash. There are three matches currently on the card, and the main event is set to be an NXT Championship match between Bobby Rodde and Hideo Itami.

Fozzy released the “Judas” single via Loudwire on May 2nd. At this time, there is not a set release date for Fozzy’s seventh studio album.

What’s next?

Chris Jericho will take a hiatus from the WWE for at least two months as he goes on tour with Fozzy. They will perform over 20 dates around the United States stretching to the end of June. With as hot as Jericho’s latest run in the WWE was, it is possible that he is back in time for a SummerSlam run.

Author’s take

That was a very nice gesture by Triple H to give Fozzy some exposure for not only their new single but also the new album that comes out later this year. I’m definitely a fan of the band, and I think their last album “Do You Wanna Start A War” was their best yet.
