3 reasons why Lita should return to the ring and 2 she should not

When fans found out that Becky Lynch’s opponent at Elimination Chamber was the legendary Lita herself, they went crazy. This was one of the first women to be a true superstar and was booked as such.

Lita was a massive fan-favorite during her wrestling days. Fast-forward to the present and the reaction she received on her return confirmed that was very much the case. Her legacy and accomplishments speak for themselves.

It was thus a blockbuster match when the face of her era took on the face of the present. Lynch defended her RAW Women’s Championship at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Saudi Arabia. She prevailed despite her opponent refusing to stay down.

Fans welcomed the WWE legend back with open arms and fully backed her in pursuit of another Women’s Title. Even though she came up short, the support never stopped. But given her Hall of Fame status and the fact that she is an icon of the business, her comeback has started a debate.

In that regard, here are some reasons to argue for and against Lita’s return to the ring.

#5 Should return: Lita will boost star power in the women’s division

The problem with WWE’s women’s division is the imbalance in star power. There are a few at the very top of the mountain, with the rest sitting two or three tiers below.

While that is entirely the company’s fault, star power is something that could be boosted by Lita gracing the locker room. Her presence could put more eyes on the product. As for whether she’s still got it, you only have to look at her recent match for the answer.

#4 Should not return: Her arrival will take the spot of someone else

WWE legends can appear here and there, but perhaps not every week

WWE has an annoying tendency to turn to the stars of the past. If someone thinks this isn’t true, we only have one word for you - Goldberg.

This overreliance on the stars of yesteryear has not only failed to create new stars, but has diminished the quality of the product. While Lita’s Royal Rumble entries are great, a full-time return to the ring is not as appealing.

The last thing we want to see is young and talented superstars being forced to sit on the sidelines because of this. She had her time in the spotlight, and now it’s up to the current batch to carry forward her legacy.

#3 Should return: She can mentor the younger stars

WWE’s women’s division, unlike its male counterpart, does not have a lot of vastly experienced veterans. While this is by no means a bad thing, the mentorship that exists in the men’s locker room may be missing in the opposite one.

Lita's return could solve that problem. She can act as a mentor and guide for the younger superstars and help them become better performers. There is so much to learn from The Extreme Diva.

#2 Should not return: Fans may turn on her

No one can imagine fans turning on the torchbearer for women’s wrestling. However, there is a genuine chance of that happening should Lita decide to forsake her retirement.

Goldberg, a legend of the business, returned to a raucous reception. However, with each of his subsequent returns, the cheering reduced. That is not what we envision for our idols.

LuchaLita deserves to have her legacy intact, and that will only happen if she stays true to her retirement.

#1 Should return: Fantasy booking will get real

We all try and picture potential wrestling dream matches. It’s often the case of generations colliding and the past meeting the present.

If Lita returns to full-time wrestling, a lot of said dream matches can be checked off the list. It would be fantastic to see her tearing it up with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair.

Given Amy Dumas’ in-ring pedigree and experience, we can bet most of those matches will be absolute bangers too.
