It's been years since Seth Rollins has been anywhere near the WWE Championship.
Following his split from The Shield, Rollins was pushed as one of the biggest stars in the company. But since then, he been given a much more modest position in WWE while Roman Reigns sat at the helm.
Rollins was recently part of a deeply personal feud with Edge where took the loss on two occasions in order to make the story work. Rollins traveled to Saudi Arabia and stepped inside Hell in a Cell to put The Rated R Superstar over, so this could be WWE's way of thanking him.
Rollins is always the stand-out star on the show and the one who puts on the best matches. The former World Champion has been a versatile performer, and now his shot at the WWE Championship could be his way of proving that he's ready to step back into the main title picture.
