Two Royal Rumble 2014 matches that will disappoint

Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble 2014

As of now, the 2014 Royal Rumble match card has got 5 matches in total, which also includes the Kick off match for the WWE Tag Team Championship between The Brotherhood and The New Age Outlaws, and this match looks good. The traditional 30-man Royal Rumble match should be expected to deliver better than some from the previous years, with all the 20 announced superstars so far looking good.

And the mental games between Bray Wyatt and Daniel Bryan will help in delivering another good match at the Rumble. But, the other two matches, Randy Orton vs. John Cena and Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar, are probably going to disappoint, you can tell this by looking at their storyline build-up.

1. Randy Orton vs. John Cena, WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match

Nothing exciting happened in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship storyline involving Randy Orton and John Cena since TLC. The titles were unified to bring some attention at the top of the card, but apparently WWE moved on from its idea too fast. They staked two big titles for simply nothing.

Probably, WWE thought that Orton attacking Cena’s father (again) would get this match the required hype, but they would be completely wrong if they thought so. The fans wanted some violent action between these two arch-rivals in the past month, but all that WWE gave us was Cena chasing Orton inside the arena as the finale for the Raw before Rumble.

Their match at Rumble is also a simple one-on-one match, but luckily only a pinfall or submission deciding the winner, so there won’t be a scenario of Orton winning via disqualification and we’ll have a clear winner, and getting a clear winner becomes the only highlight of this match.

This will in turn give us a clear picture of how well these two ‘top’ superstars can perform, and if they are able to live up to all that hype which comes with their names. The outcome will also determine if Orton deserves to be the ‘face’ of the company. So, despite so much disappoint there is still some hope for this match.

2. Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show

The other match which is expected to disappoint is Brock Lesnar’s match against the Big Show. We all are aware about Lesnar’s limited WWE appearances, and that WWE has wasted half of them over the Big Show, who isn’t even a top wrestler anymore.

And the way WWE has been showing Lesnar so scared in front of Show in their last two meetings makes me want to ask them about their real intentions regarding this Lesnar-Show match. These two haven’t build an exciting storyline at all, there hasn’t been any fistfight between them, except that Show sent Lesnar flying twice, which has only made Lesnar look weaker and intimidated.

I don’t even know what’s the point of having this feud, why is WWE forcefully wasting Lesnar’s dates? Couldn’t they find a better opponent? I hope that WWE Creative seriously thought over this feud or else it’s going to be WWE’s loss, because Lesnar doesn’t care about what he has to do for another 5 nights in the WWE and he doesn’t care about the company, he is just happy with his money. But, in the end I hope that these two deliver a great match, and maybe break the ring again. But no, where will those 30 men go then.

Although, the build-up to these two feuds hasn’t been good, we can hope that WWE has some surprises in store for us, and they better do, because now the company can’t run the risk of giving us another poor pay-per-view.
