Backstage reaction to Bret Hart's WWE return; potential for in-ring future - Reports

There has been an update on how Bret Hart's appearance on WWE RAW was viewed backstage, and if the legend will be returning to the ring. The Hitman was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.

Hart appeared on the September 9 edition of RAW in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was interrupted by World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, who claimed that Goldberg was his favorite wrestler.

According to Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp, there has been nothing negative from WWE about Bret Hart's appearance on RAW. The report revealed that the veteran was under the weather before the show, and it was up in the air if he would still make the appearance.

It was also noted that the new regime was emphasizing maintaining a good relationship with legends of the business, and Sapp had not heard of any expectations for Hart to get physical in the ring during his appearances.

Gunther is involved in a rivalry with Sami Zayn on WWE RAW but has refused his challenge for a World Heavyweight Championship match. Zayn will be facing Imperium's Ludwig Kaiser in a singles match tonight on the red brand.

Vince Russo reacts to Bret Hart's return on WWE RAW

Wrestling veteran Vince Russo recently shared his thoughts on Gunther referencing Goldberg during his promo with Bret Hart on RAW earlier this month.

Hart still has not forgiven Goldberg for causing his concussion at WCW Starrcade 1999. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW show, Russo noted that The Hitman got a great pop from the crowd in Calgary during this return.

The legend added that he loved Gunther's line about Goldberg, but is not interested in the World Heavyweight Champion's rivalry with Sami Zayn.

"We had Bret Hart get a nice pop which is great. That’s good for Bret to get all his dessert. But when Gunther said his favorite wrestler was Goldberg, that popped me. I loved it. Then the Sami thing is like, oh bro, please stop with this guy for crying out loud." [From 1:06:18 onwards]

Goldberg recently discussed kicking Bret Hart in the head at WCW Starrcade 1999 and reiterated that it was not intentional. It will be interesting to see if Hart makes any more appearances on WWE television this year.
