During a recent edition of his podcast "Conversation With The Big Guy", Ryback spoke about the time he smacked Hornswoggle, to send him a message. Ryback also discussed his relationship with Daniel Bryan and spoke of his favourite backstage moments with Bryan as well.
Ryback stated that he and Hornswoggle used to have a running joke, where the latter would slap him in jest. The Big Guy went on to admit that he ‘put Hornswoggle in his place’ when he felt that the little guy simply took things too far and needed to be dealt with promptly. Here's an excerpt from that podcast:
"Hornswoggle would f**k around sometimes. He did something in the locker room once, and we would kind of like say 'come here,' and it was a little thing where he would give me a little slap on the cheek.”
Ryback went on to explain that it was never meant to get out of hand.
"It was all in good fun. It was kind of like how you develop little things, with different guys. Like me and certain guys have certain handshakes, and then, that was a thing with us. 'Come here,' and then the big monster Ryback and Hornswoggle would give a little slap on the cheek, and he would say something smart ass or something," he added.
Things did get carried away, unfortunately, as The Big Guy went on to explain:
"Well, one time I was in the locker room. He did something and he slapped me, and he did it hard, and he did it a little too much, and in front of everybody. So, I had to teach him, and f**king whack him, and f**king put him in his place. It broke my heart to do it, but I had to do. He never did that again."
In that same podcast, Ryback discussed some of his favourite memories of the times he shared with Daniel Bryan. Here's what he had to say about some of Bryans antics that not many people know of:
"He used to do a thing where, like, he'll come up behind a guy and grab you by the hips and he's like, 'I'm dominating you! I'm dominating you!' Like, just holding your hips, but he would really latch onto your hips."
Ryback continued the story, shedding light on a side of Daniel Bryan that we were not too familiar with saying, "And so one day I'm walking and we're in Dallas, I'll never forget it, Pat Patterson, is, like, standing against the wall. Daniel Bryan comes up, and I don't see Pat because I'm walking. And Dan comes up behind me and grabs me by the hips, and he goes, 'I got you!’"
Ryback and Bryan had a good working relationship backstage, as made evident during this podcast. Ryback continued the story of his moment with Daniel:
"I was in a good mood, and so I start giddying up down the hallway with him on my hips. We go right by Pat Patterson and we look and stop. Pat's just staring at both of us, and I turn around and laugh. I was thinking, 'for all the moments for that to f--king happen,' but Dan probably saw Pat from a distance and thought, 'oh, this will be f**king money'.
Ryback concluded by saying that the incident mentioned above was one his favourite moments with Bryan. In the video below, Daniel Bryan talks about being a vegan and travelling with a carnivore like Ryback.
