The curious case of Damien Sandow and Dolph Ziggler

Damien Sandow and Dolph Ziggler for the past two weeks have been competing against each other in gimmick matches. Two weeks ago it was the Broadway Brawl Match and last week it was a Hamptons Hardcore Match.

The stranger the monikers of these matches the stranger is the current state these two talented superstars have found their careers in. It’s a given that WWE does not utilize most of its talented roster but Dolph Ziggler has been quite popular as a heel as or as a face and the company seems to be unsure about giving him a Ryback-like push.

The company does believe in his capability of putting up a show, otherwise he won’t have been booked to win the Money In The Bank or the World heavyweight Championship but it seems he still has to crawl his way to the absolute top.

Damien Sandow has been one heel that, since his arrival, has nevr given a bad performance on the mic. His mic work is awesome and amongst the best in the company. He won the Money In The Bank this year which is a constant reminder and indication that company does believe in you. But in the path to putting SuperCena over, as if that was needed, Sandow’s moment of becoming a champion was jeopardized and now besides the company’s virtuoso Cena, Sandow is the only one to lose a cash-in. “You’re Welcome”, says the WWE.

These two superstars either have pissed someone off or are seriously having a momentary slump. Thought Dolph Ziggler seems to be used to it, Damien Sandow put it impeccably last week on Raw, “ I am better than this.”

But even if these two are not where they’re supposed to be, they have put on an entertaining show both the times, when the ridiculous was supposed to take over. One way to put sucj matches is the hilarity that they are capable to ensue. But these two were entertaining and as far as WWE goes that’s all one needs.

This could have been better if there was an actual storyline to support it, without a storyline this seems to have more chances of wearing people out.

I just don’t understand why the WWE is not using its young superstars and putting them in the spotlight. They should be investing time and effort in their character development and even if they won’t be able to draw like the older guys now but later they might just revolutionize the business.

Imagine Damien Sandow, Dean Ambrose or Bray Wyatt engaged in a promo. While Sandow can take arrogance to a whole new level then Wyatt and Ambrose can escalate the insanity level. Instead of all that we’re stuck with Cena and Orton and their 20 minutes of rehearsed, repetitive vomit.

Damien Sandow still remains our Uncrowned Champion and it’s about damn time that the WWE builds its younger Superstars for the future.
