TNA News: Bobby Lashley crowned as new TNA Heavyweight Champion

Lashley wins the title for the third time

TNA Slammiversy was a historic event with the crowning of a new heavyweight champion among other things. The main event featured Drew Galloway defending his title against Bobby Lashley. Galloway had become the champion by defeating Matt Hardy for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship after cashing in the Feast or Fired briefcase. He had previously defended his title successfully against Jeff hardy, Matt Hardy and Bobby Lashley.

Amidst huge expectations, Bobby Lashley faced Drew Galloway once again in the main event of Slammiversary on Sunday. To make things more interesting, the only way to pick up the victory was via submission or a knockout. Lashley won after Galloway passed out in a submission hold.

This is the third time Lashley is capturing the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. It will be interesting to note how long Lashley holds on to the title, as TNA has built Lashley lately as their own version of Brock Lesnar. Lashley’s new moniker “The Destroyer” may well help him to hold on to the title for a bit longer than one can expect.

However, the heavyweight championship is not the only title to change hands in the night. Eddie Edwards and Sienna won the TNA X Division Championship and TNA Knockouts Title respectively.
