TNA postpones tour to India: details on the reason, talents unhappy?

This tour has been postponed to next year

We had reported on TNA’s announcement to do 3 live events in India, which was made last month, in conjunction with their Indian TV partner Sony SIX. However, the latest reports coming in from the company state that the tour has been postponed to sometime in 2016.

The company was scheduled to tape several Impact Wrestling episodes and a live One Night Only pay-per-view over three nights in the first week of December. The reason for the postponement has been attributed to ‘logistical issues’ stemming from the terror attack in Paris, from a couple of weeks ago.

The crew was originally set to leave from the United States this weekend to fly to Paris, France and then fly to India. As per online reports, the talents are unhappy as it has been a tough year in terms of getting work from TNA.

Given the constant talk around the financial state of the struggling company, it is but natural that speculation is floating around that the real reason for the delay in having the tour is low ticket sales. However, that speculation wouldn’t be true as the tour is being financed by Sony SIX.

It must be a big blow to the company as the announcement about the Indian tour was made with quite the fanfare in India, spanning 4 cities involving top 3 TNA stars alongwith The Great Khali in Mumbai. Former TNA world champion Ethan Carter III, Rebel and India’s own Mahabali Shera were among the TNA talents who had made the trip to India, to announce the tour.

With regards to when would the tour happen now, TNA hasn’t given an exact timeline on the same, but the e-mail sent out to talents notified that it would be sometime in 2016. In the battle of pro-wrestling conglomerates trying to establish a base in India through these live events, it seems that WWE may have a headstart given that they tour in January 2016.
