This match in the summer of 2013 had a great storyline and a dramatic ending to it. It was a match between the independent darling and the ‘face of WWE’. After months of being taunted by Vince McMahon that he was not the champion that he wanted to lead his company, WWE Champion John Cena handpicked Daniel Bryan for this great match.

This was the first opportunity for the bearded wonder to get a shot at his first WWE title championship and also to headline in a pay-per-view event. Cena went into the match having a torn biceps which was exposed badly, time and again by Daniel Bryan.

Yet, Cena competed equally with Bryan in what was termed as one of the gutsiest performances of the wrestler. In the end, Cena lost the match after facing a running knee to the face which started Daniel Bryan’s ignited run at the company. Bryan’s celebrations were cut short as special referee Triple H knocked him out before Randy Orton cashed in his Money in the Bank to win the WWE Championship.
