Top 5 contenders to win the Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble

It’s one of the four pay-per-views that the WWE fans look forward to and their only chance to see almost all the WWE superstars in a single ring.

Every year the Royal Rumble comes across and one of those superstars win the lottery to be in the WrestleMania main event. By the looks of it this year ain’t going to be no different.

A lot of superstars have been building some much needed momentum for the same but as said earlier only one would get the opportunity to get there. All the others will be relegated to serving the purpose of entertaining the fans and adding the drama bits.

There are a lot of superstars in the roster who deserves or is capable of being that “One” but then again not everyone walk through the victory road. So here is a look at the top five contenders to win the Royal Rumble.

5- CM Punk

CM Punk

CM Punk

A Rumble win would act as a launching pad for Punk’s much awaited full time feud with the Authority. His absence from the main event scene isn’t helping anyone other than the Shield’s split up angle.

A star like Punk deserves to be in the limelight than starting of Raw tapings. Punk carries a lot of momentum into the match as well after getting upper hand over the Shield every single time.

The involvement of Brock Lesnar, a conflict with Triple H and Stephanie plus Randy Orton gives a lot of doors for Punk to explore. All of them provide with huge culmination matches and the creative could sleep walk their way into WrestleMania if they make Punk the winner.

4- John Cena

John Cena

John Cena

Why? Because he’s John Cena, the superman of WWE.

Cena already has a shot at the WWE unified championship at Rumble but by the looks of it Orton has no intentions of losing the title to Cena.

Due to his sheer star quality and fan base, Cena is a favorite to win any match that he enters. The Royal Rumble is no different.

The company would also risk not putting their top face in the WrestleMania which sets the scene for Cena to snatch a win. The only thing holding him back would be the current fan riot which opposes him winning everything.

If WWE decides to open their eyes to the opinion of the fans we could see a different result and much more compelling turn of events.

3- The Undertaker

The Undertaker

The Undertaker

It’s a well-known secret that the Undertaker’s most likely opponent at WrestleMania would be Brock Lesnar.

And Lesnar made it official that he will be chasing the unified title after Royal Rumble. Adding up the two scenarios, we have this being one of the most sensible things that could happen.

Taker winning the Rumble then going on to win the title against a physically superior Lesnar would be one hell of a story. After that he could drop the title to any upcoming youngster and take retirement keeping his streak intact in case he plans to return.

It’s a perfect scenario for everyone and no one would argue against seeing The Phenom enter as a rumble entrant and draw a storyline for his WrestleMania match rather than being booked randomly.

2- Batista

Batista

Batista

He has been there and done it all, still it gives you Goosebumps when you hear that Batista will be returning for Royal Rumble.

There is still a lot to be known about his return, but the best scenario to put him would be to win the Royal Rumble. Batista winning the match will set up a potential Batista- Lesnar bout or Batista- Lesnar – Orton bout. Both matches make an average fan drool and Batista winning the title would complete his return.

There are a lot of expectations riding on him as well and a Rumble win would be the easiest way to book him. The fans won’t be disappointed and the company would have a top name at top of the card.

Everything said the above 4 names would be great options in terms of various dimensions but…

1- Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryanww

Simply speaking- Daniel Bryan deserves to be in the main event of WrestleMania.

After everything that the authority did to him, Bryan earning his spot to headline WrestleMania would be the ultimate underdog story.

His current heroics with the Wyatt family are heading somewhere but that might not be a pull back from him winning the Rumble. Instead it could act as a plus point. Bray Wyatt being the head of the family could start controlling Bryan after the Rumble win which would set up a match between Bryan and Bray at Elimination Chamber for Bryan’s freedom.

Anyway they choose if Daniel Bryan doesn’t main event WrestleMania, then the WWE universe will riot like the ECW fan.
