What if Dean Ambrose had joined SmackDown Live in 2018

Flashback to August 2018. WWE Creative is building up the match card for the biggest event of summer 2018, Summerslam.

Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.

The Lunatic Fringe, Dean Ambrose has been away from the ring since the last nine months. His last WWE appearance was on the RAW episode where Samoa Joe broke his arm in a backstage attack.

Dean Ambrose had to miss the Royal Rumble PPV, WrestleMania 34 and also the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV.

The rumor mill is abuzz with the rumor of his return every week and just one week before WWE Summerslam, boom!

A jacked up Dean Ambrose is beating the heck out of Samoa Joe backstage on SmackDown Live, thus, making his shock return to WWE after spending nine long months on the sidelines.

This storyline would have fared way better than how Dean Ambrose fared on RAW as a part of the Shield and as a heel post that.

Here are the things that might have been different had the Grand Slam champion joined the blue brand on his return.

#1 Challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Championship match at Summerslam 2018

So was Samoa Joe cleared for the WWE Championship match after Ambrose laid him out backstage? No, not at all.

Dean Ambrose would walk out to the ring confronting Shane McMahon and Paige. The Lunatic Fringe would demand the top officials to put him in the WWE Championship match at Summerslam for he proved that he was better than Samoa Joe.

It is reasonable to think that Shane McMahon would disagree with Ambrose's opinion and insert him in a No.1 contender's match against Randy Orton or even any one member of the New Day!

The Cincinnati native would defeat his opponent in minutes to move on to challenge The Phenomenal One at the Grandest Party Of The Summer.

Irrespective of the result of the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam, this would have been a better way of launching a new look Ambrose instead of having him stand in the corner of Seth Rollins during the Intercontinental championship match at the PPV.

#4 Dean Ambrose, and not the new Daniel Bryan, is the top heel of SmackDown Live

As the manner in which the WWE Creative loves to book their feuds, the battles between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose would end in disqualification after Ambrose hits him with a low blow/chair/kendo stick or bashes him into a table.

We are in the month of November now and Dean Ambrose will be challenging AJ Styles for one last time at WWE Crown Jewel, in a no disqualification/ falls count anywhere/ iron man/ last man standing match.

Ambrose uses his heelish tactics which the innocent AJ Styles was not aware of and the WWE Universe gets a new WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose.

The Lunatic Fringe's heel gimmick, which failed on RAW, might have been successful on SmackDown Live as the new Daniel Bryan's gimmick is very similar to Ambrose's character.

Who knows, Daniel Bryan might have never turned heel and the Yes! movement would still be on!

#3 No Shield Reunion

Dean Ambrose's new look screamed a heel turn from the moment when he appeared on WWE TV.

There was no need to book him as an innocent face Superstar, who does not understand that he is being looked at as the weakest link of the Shield.

The Shield reunion that happened on the night after Summerslam was perhaps one of the best ends we have had to RAW in recent times.

But, what after that? We get six-man tag team matches, singles matches between Superstars of the rival factions and same old promos week in and week out.

Had Dean Ambrose joined the blue brand, this reunion would have never taken place, meaning that we could have got a better feud for the Universal Championship on RAW.

Also, the Intercontinental championship and the RAW tag team championships would have received better booking decisions than the ones they received during the Shield vs Dogs of War storyline.

#2 Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar II at Survivor Series

Well, Roman Reigns had to relinquish the Universal Championship due to Leukemia otherwise, we could have got a rematch of the 2015 Survivor Series main event between the WWE Champion and the Universal Champion at 2018 Survivor Series.

Nonetheless, the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel to win the Universal Championship.

And as he does not defend his title on RAW episodes, this would mean that the WWE Universe would witness a match between the new WWE Champion, the new Dean Ambrose and the new Universal Champion, the same old Brock Lesnar.

Brock Lesnar vs Dean Ambrose would have been an interesting match as the two have shared ring in the past and even have had a WrestleMania match.

However, the sad part here is that instead of main eventing Survivor Series, Dean Ambrose was not even featured on the match card of the pay-per-view.

#1 Dean Ambrose re-signs with WWE

The rumors are rife that Dean Ambrose is leaving WWE after WrestleMania 35

It has been publicly confirmed by WWE that Dean Ambrose is leaving the company after WrestleMania 35.

While there are rumours that this is a work and Ambrose is staying with the company, there is a reason why Ambrose is leaving WWE and that is yes, you guessed it right, "BAD BOOKING!'

Ambrose's character has perhaps received the worst booking in WWE history, according to the Lunatic Fringe and thus, he is leaving WWE.

If Zack Ryder and Shinsuke Nakamura would have known of this thing, currently, the two might have been colliding in the main event of Double or Nothing.

So, as described ahead, had Dean Ambrose become a part of SmackDown Live in August 2018, this issue would not have risen at all.

He would happily re-sign a contract with WWE and continue his solid run as a heel on FOX.
