What would CM Punk’s victory over Brock Lesnar mean for him?

Punk Sir

SummerSlam is not far away; on 18th August the ‘Best in the World’ CM Punk will meet ‘The Beast’ Brock Lesnar while Paul Heyman watches from ringside.

We all know that Punk can beat Brock Lesnar; we have seen him beating the biggest names in the industry for past 2 years. Ryback, Chris Jericho, John Cena, Randy Orton and Big Show have all feuded with Punk, and each time Punk has got the better of his opponents.

Punk has proven over the course of his WWE career that he definitely has what it takes to entertain on the main event stage and the better his competition, the better the match. And the fact that he is in the best shape of his career right now increases the possibility of him standing tall after SummerSlam.

What sets CM Punk apart from rest of the Superstars in WWE right now is the consistence he has shown with performance. I believe that it’s just what he will do at SummerSlam against Lesnar. This is just another opportunity for Punk to show what he can do on the worldwide pay-per-view stage, and he will surely be on top of his game.

But this time it’s not just any opponent he’s stepping into the ring with. This is Brock Lesnar, a killing machine who finds happiness by inflicting pain on others. Lesnar’s not concerned about winning championships nor is he concerned about Punk’s legacy. All Brock Lesnar wants is to hurt people and we know he is pretty good at it.

Punk has been put up against the biggest names of WWE and he has performed every time. His match with Triple H, Undertaker and Rock were one of the better ones in recent times. Punk not only did his part against each legend, but he proved himself and improved the match with his work.

However, unlike the matches he worked with Cena, Jericho, Orton, and Big Show, Punk lost against Hunter, Rock and Taker. So now Brock Lesnar is actually the last top guy who Punk has yet to face.

At SummerSlam Lesnar will again be presented as the unmerciful beast. But I believe that Punk will go over in this match. Some of the supporters have been questioning how Punk would match up against Lesnar, mostly because of the considerable difference in physical size.

The fact that Brock was a ruthless MMA fighter with detrimental submission moves makes it an even harder mountain to climb for Punk.

So, I don’t see CM Punk having a clean pinfall on him and honestly a tap-out may not ever be on the cards for Brock Lesnar. There’s a high possibility of Paul Heyman’s intervention in the match costing Lesnar the win and Punk escaping with his life. That way Lesnar doesn’t lose the beast image and Punk gets yet another victory under his belt.

Punk’s legacy will become even richer and more impressive than it is now.

A CM Punk win at SummerSlam would automatically propel him up the ladder in WWE. Most fans expect him to be in the championship hunt again very soon. And even if that opportunity did not come right away, Punk would still be highly regarded, as a guy who is expected to perform in high profile matches and being the one who comes through every time.

Punk would again be the company’s No. 2 superstar, only second to John Cena, and an eventual championship run would only strengthen his place at the top.

CM Punk and Brock Lesnar will be in the ring at SummerSlam on August 18. For Lesnar, this match is all about following the orders of Paul Heyman, who wants to see Punk punished for betraying him. But for Punk, this match is about adding to his already impressive legacy in WWE.

And I certainly believe that CM Punk will prevail again.
