Opinion: Why Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn must win the RAW tag team championships at Royal Rumble 2019

The tag team division of RAW has been in shambles ever since Braun Strowman and Nicholas won the RAW tag team championships at WrestleMania 34 last year. After they relinquished the titles on the RAW after WrestleMania 34, Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy were crowned as the next champs of the division.

The duo had a fine run with the titles but lost it to the B Team (Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas) who turned the entire division into a joke. The Creative team not only made a joke out of the tag team division but also devalued the credibility of teams like The Revival and the Woken Warriors, who lost matches to the B Team in the weirdest manners possible.

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre's team had a run with the titles next and it seemed like finally, the Creative team had some big plans for the RAW tag team championships. However, the titles were entirely sidelined during the feud between the S.H.I.E.L.D and the Dogs of War, which further downed their prestige. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins won the championships only for Ambrose to turn heel on Rollins the next moment.

The AOP captured the RAW tag team championships later but their run with the titles was spoiled by the involvement of Drake Maverick in the picture. Bobby Roode and Chad Gable defeated the AOP soon to win their first ever RAW tag team championships and the duo have defeated The Revival in a cheeky manner several times during their reign.

The WWE Universe is no longer that excited for the RAW tag team division than it used to be 2 or 3 years back and so, the writers should come up with a shocking storyline soon to shake up the entire division.

They can shake up the division by having the current champions, Bobby Roode and Chad Gable issue an open challenge for the titles this Sunday at the Royal Rumble PPV and have Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn accept them.

Their returns are much-awaited and it would be way better if they are used in the RAW tag team division than in the singles division. Also, the Canadian duo should emerge victorious in that match and should walk out of Chase Field with the championships.

Their mic work is unmatched as well!

The WWE Universe would surely go mad after seeing this and all eyes would be on the RAW tag team division once again. Moreover, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn can help in rebuilding the entire division by battling in matches against The Revival, the AOP and other top tag teams.
