Why Zack Ryder should answer Seth Rollins' Intercontinental Championship open challenge

The reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion, Seth Rollins, successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against Dean Ambrose in a Steel Cage match at WWE Starrcade. The Kingslayer then made an announcement via Twitter, where he issued an open challenge to anyone in the locker room willing to take the IC title from him.

The one thing to be noted here is that WWE have announced a title match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins for the WWE Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view. So it looks like the title will not change hands tonight. However, the prime question remains which superstar will accept The Architect's challenge.

A plethora of fans are predicting The Eater of Worlds, Bray Wyatt, to make his grand return to RAW tonight by answering Seth's challenge, but the WWE Creative would not want Wyatt to lose his first match after returning. Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley should not eat a pin now, while Baron Corbin vs Seth Rollins would be a sign of lazy booking.

This looks like a fresh match

The WWE Creative could freshen up things on RAW by having an underdog superstar accept this challenge. Chad Gable seems to be the perfect option for this, but he is involved in a RAW tag team championship match tonight. So, the next best option is definitely Zack Ryder.

The former Intercontinental Champion has been actively wrestling on the WWE main event show, he has also won several matches on the pre-taped show. Ryder could help strengthen the mid-card of Monday Night RAW if utilised properly.

Both superstars possess the ability to get the crowd on their feet with this match, and given RAW's declining ratings, a match between Seth Rollins and Zack Ryder could help audiences stick around the TV.

Its been a while since we saw Ryder on RAW, and given the popularity he has in the WWE Universe, WWE Creative could also give a shocking win to Zack courtesy of an interference by Dean Ambrose.
