In 2016, the age of the sensual and alluring wrestling ‘diva’ is over. Nevertheless, much of the wrestling world is, was and will be in love with ‘The Boss’ Sasha Banks. Sadly for them, their dreams were crushed like Rusev’s opponents,when she recently got married to WWE’s resident costume maker- Sarath Ton, otherwise known as Kid Mikaze.
They say love is blind, and in these cases, it has proven itself to be true.
So let’s take the time to look at 5 other wrestling couples where one spouse is far out of the other’s league.

#1 Rusev and Lana
C’mon. Don’t look at us like we are monsters.
You have probably wondered the same thing every time you’ve switched on your television sets and seen this couple appear on a screen. How can Lana, the long legged beauty who’s supposedly from Russia, but is actually from the United States, be linked to The Bulgarian Brute Rusev?
Truth be told, they’re happily married and now reside in Nashville, Tennessee. How do you think Rusev first told Lana he had a crush on her? ‘RUSEV CRUSHHHHHHHHH’?!.
Did we mention her long legs yet?
Anyway, we wish Miroslav Barnyashev and Catherine Joy Perry (their real names, if you hadn’t guessed) a very happy married life and many little Bulgarian, Brutal Babies (who will be half American by default).
Let’s just hope they get their mother’s looks too.
#2 John Cena and Elizabeth Huberdeau
While we had fun with the first entry in our list, this is a far more tragic story.
Elizabeth Huberdeau was John Cena’s high school sweetheart and they were wedded in the year 2009. However, their match was problematic and soon after, Cena filed for divorce in the year 2012 – the same year he began dating Nikki Bella.
We wonder if Cena preferred her glamorous and star-like looks over Huberdeau’s more plain-jane appearance. This whole scenario turned ugly when accusations of cheating came from Huberdeau, who – soon after – withdrew her allegations.
This remains, to date, the only stain on Cena's otherwise spotless clean public image. We wonder if he thought he was out of her league. Maybe, Cena thinks he’s in Nikki Bella's league.
#3 Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan
One of them is a picture perfect Diva. The other is one of the greatest in-ring workers of all time, but otherwise, not much to look at. They are an odd pairing, but somehow this works perfectly in their case.
After all, looks aren't everything when it comes to love. And in a lot of cases, love can be blind.
But they are so much in love, that when Bryan's career came to a screeching halt, Brie made retirement plans as well. Prior to their marriage in 2014, Brie was dating guitar legend Richie Kotzen.
One may say that this good looking couple was far better suited for one another. But truth be told, Brie and Bryan seem perfect. Guess it’s true what they say...’chicks dig dudes with beards’.
So grow em’ out gents.
#4 Ron Fisico and Trish Stratus
One of them is the most gorgeous Diva of the Attitude Era, the other is...some dude.
Not only did Stratus win her Women's Championship a total of 7 times during her career, she won the hearts of millions of men from across the world. But when it came to choosing her partner, she chose her high school sweetheart Ron Fisico.
The man who stuck with her through thick and thin, and more notably, through all the sexual plot-lines she was involved in.
They were married in 2006, and many WWE stars/divas were in attendance. Her wedding was an expensive affair, and her bridal gown was featured on the cover of the coveted Today’s Bride magazine.
Today, she is retired from the WWE and lives in North Toronto where she teaches yoga. And she has a son with Fisico.

#5 Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth
Throughout the Golden Era of the WWE, Miss Elizabeth was the definition of grace, poise, and beauty. On the contrary, the Macho Man Randy Savage was an eccentric character...to say, the least.
But without one, there wouldn’t have been the other.
As many legendary wrestlers and legends have said over time, she was beautiful and him not so quite, but they always made it work. Perhaps some would say Elizabeth's relationship with Lex Luger was better suited to her gorgeous looks. Still, people remember the Savage-Liz pair fondly.
The reunion of The Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth in 1991, at Wrestlemania 7, remains one of the most tear-inducing moments in WWE history. Today, they’re both gone but the memory of this truly golden couple is alive and well in the hearts of us all.
We salute the first couple of wrestling with all our love and adulation. But we still wonder...how did this beauty and the beast pairing get over so well with the WWE Universe?
