WWE Elimination Chamber 2015: 3 Possible Endings for Intercontinental Championship Match

Who will be the next Intercontinental champion?

An unforgiving steel structure, six men, an exclusive $9.99 WWE Network event, and a vacated WWE Intercontinental Championship: this is going to be the story on May 31, 2015 when WWE brings their first ever Network ‘exclusive’ Elimination Chamber event.

Daniel Bryan’s injury was a big blow for both the company and Bryan but it will turn into blessing for one particular superstar at the pay-per-view. WWE has added an array of surprising names into the match and even though it could have been far better, the current crop of superstars could also do a wonderful job.

There are a lot of permutations with which WWE could end the match and we take a look at some of the most likely ones.

Lana Distracts Rusev for Ziggler

Lana might help Ziggler win the title

WWE does not have many subplots heading into this match but the one they do have is pretty awesome. The split between Lana and Rusev has been all over the internet after what happened on Raw and it would really be a missed opportunity if WWE does not make use of this at Elimination Chamber.

The first possibility that could come out of this subplot is Rusev and Ziggler being the last two men. Lana will then have a big role in deciding who gets the win here and she could distract Rusev so that Ziggler gets the gold.

None of the fans out there would say that Ziggler doesn’t deserve the title because he is hands down the most deserving one from these six men. It will also help WWE to improve the Lana – Ziggler bond if they are looking for a long term relationship.

The reverse process and a perfect turn

Or she could go back to helping Rusev

Now, go back to the scenario where Rusev and Ziggler are the two remaining men in the Chamber. We already discussed the possibility of Ziggler winning the title with the help of Lana but what if the reverse happens? Rusev is in desperate need of some heat and a good storyline after what happened with Cena and Lana’s turn on Ziggler would give Rusev both.

It will help WWE keep Rusev relevant and they could save the split angle for something bigger than Ziggler. The Intercontinental title around Rusev’s waist would look pretty cool and his career will float for some more time with it. Also, the readymade feud of Ziggler vs. Rusev will also be available heading to Money in the Bank.

The Dark Horse in all this

Apart from Ziggler and Rusev, the only superstar who could have a solid run with the Intercontinental championship is Sheamus. Sheamus built up some good momentum during the past two pay-per-views and his new heel run has been effective as well. Not giving him the title at Elimination Chamber will probably land WWE in a deadlock situation with him.

He needs something bigger than Ziggler for his character development next and there is no chance of him getting near Seth Rollins. So the Intercontinental title is the perfect slot for him at the moment and a win in Chamber will add more shine to his eventual title reign.
