WWE Fastlane 2019: 7 Shocking decisions WWE could make

What will go down at Fastlane?
What will go down at Fastlane?

The last pay-per-view before Wrestlemania is WWE Fastlane. And while there are some fans out there in the WWE Universe that like the fact that we are getting one more show before the biggest event in wrestling, as it provides an end to WWE's build of many of their narratives and it allows the creative team to create new programmes for WrestleMania at the same time.

Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.

The truth is that there is no real reason for this pay-per-view to exist.

As most of the plot points WWE wants to resolve within this show, can be sorted out on Raw and Smackdown Live.

Nevertheless, with a few days left for the show, things seem to be heating up, as is WWE teasing many twists for the show, which means we could be in line for many shocking moments.

So today let us go through all possible shocking decisions WWE could make at Fastlane 2019.

#1 Who's Going To Be The Heel?

Miz is just a better bad guy.
Miz is just a better bad guy.

The narrative between Shane McMahon and The Miz is more random than Hornswoggles' Royal Rumble appearances, as this entire fiasco started after Shane took an injured Miz's place in the final of the WWE World Cup. And ever since Miz has grown fond of the commissioner of SmackDown Live.

While Shane O'Mac was hesitant at first to befriend The Miz, he soon grew fond of the A-lister, and from there on out these two men became the best friends discussing their issues, and aspirations in life.

And the biggest question fans were asking was what was the need for WWE to book this feud as some sort of soap opera?

As the content of this angle has not been up to standard, which brought the quality of the entire narrative down, but it seems we could be saved from WWE taking things any further with Shane and Miz's budding friendship.

As rumours have been circulating that Shane will turn on The Miz at Fastlane, which will set up a WrestleMania match between the two.

Now the reasons for Shane turning on Miz don't really feel justified at this point, but if you flip the script and have The A-Lister turn on the commissioner of the Blue Brand, things start to make more sense.

Whichever route WWE takes with this feud, let us be glad it's done, and we will finally see something surprising or interesting happen here.

#2 The Kevin Owens Show

KO for World Champion anyone?
KO for World Champion anyone?

The career of Kevin Owens has been a weird one, as just a few months ago the former Universal Champion had been thrown about inside a mobile toilet, while today he is preparing to challenge for the WWE Title. And if you think that booking is so inconsistent, well, welcome to the WWE.

Moreover, the fact that KO is actually credible enough to walk out of Fastlane with WWE Title speaks volumes of the man's character and how damn good the former NXT Champion is right now, as he can fill any role.

While many have concluded that this match is just filler until a robbed Kofi Kingston gets his opportunity at WrestleMania, what If we all wrong and KO comes away with the gold?

This could be a shocking possibility for the WWE Title, as certain speculation over the last few weeks has indicated that WWE could end up doing a multi-man WWE Title match at WrestleMania.

As with Kofi, Owens, Daniel Bryan and the now returning Mustafa Ali in the mix, this seems plausible, and while most fans desire Bryan vs Kofi at the biggest event in wrestling, WWE could go for this alternative.

Owens winning the WWE Title could be done for shock value, or it could signify a new beginning for the underrated genius, whatever WWE chooses, if Owens does win the WWE Title, it will truly be a night he won't ever forget.

And one that fans won't either, as this is a match that could alter the Smackdown Live main event scene.

#3 Rose Is Gold

A shocking moment no one wants to see.
A shocking moment no one wants to see.

The Women's Title on Smackdown Live was the hottest championship in WWE just a few months ago when Becky Lynch and Charlotte were waging war over it, but ever since WWE handed the title to Asuka, the belt has been on a decline.

And the truth is that is none of this is the fault of Asuka, as ever since she beat Becky at the Royal Rumble, WWE has kept her off TV for no reason what so ever, but a few weeks ago Asuke reemerged.

But with no plan in mind once again, the Women's Champion wandered on Smackdown Live until WWE announced her next opponent, and that is Mandy Rose.

Mandy Rose vs Asuka sounds like a match you would see as filler on an episode of Smackdown Live, and no offense to Rose, but from an in-ring standpoint, she might never reach Asuka's level. But WWE sees a different sort of value in Rose.

Rose has something most wrestlers in the women's division are not gravitated towards, and that is her cover girl like persona. WWE knows this and that is why we see Mandy in high profile matches against veterans like Asuka. As her marketability, and looks could see her be a top star in WWE one day, or could that day of success for Rose be coming soon?

Well, just giving Rose a chance in this match is insane, as Asuka should never be losing to any random Superstar, as she needs to be protected, but we can't deny that this is something that could happen. Furthermore, what is Asuka's plans for Wrestlemania?

Rumours of her taking on Lacey Evans of all people doesn't sound like something that will elevate the Women's Title, and it is evident WWE has no route for the ass kicker.

Rose, on the other hand, could win the title and be involved in many feuds for the WrestleMania 35, as a bout with Sonya Deville or Naomi doesn't sound that bad.

#4 It's Her Title!

A Nia Jax master class people
A Nia Jax master class people

Nia Jax is a wonderful heel, and there are loads of fans that would probably disagree with that statement due to Jax being unbearable on the mic and unworkable at times in the ring, yet she is still overpushed.

But that is what makes Jax so perfect as a heel, as heels are meant to be hated, and Jax is one of the few wrestlers that can generate that heat, even if it is for the wrong reasons.

And this year at Fastlane, Nia and her buddy Tamina have the chance to rile up the WWE Universe when they take on Bayley and Sasha Banks for the Tag Team Women's Title.

Now it is almost a certainty that Banks and Bayley won't be dropping their titles anytime soon, as their latest appearance on NXT stating that they want to take on challengers from all ends of the company, shows the creative team has a plan for them.

But the one thing that actually gives Tamina and Nia a chance at Fastlane is WWE's willingness to pull the rug from under their fans feet.

The sight of Nia Jax ending the historic title reign of The Boss N Hug Connection will be one to remember, as imagine the Irrestitable Force going back down to NXT to discredit everything Banks and Bayley promised the fans, the heat from the crowd would be insane.

So instead of WWE giving us Banks and Bayley's monotonous road to Wrestlemania, they could give us an interesting narrative with Tamina and Jax.

As Jax and Tamina making themselves the most hated heel team in the company, will be beneficial to another babyface team that will receive a boatload of credibility when they eventually beat them.

It might be frustrating to some of you who love to witness the hero's journey, but how many times have we seen that before?

Jax might not be the most respected star on the roster, but she might be the only heel that can draw heat from every crowd in the world, and that is important when building up a title, as it is better for a titleholder to be hated rather than being forgotten.

#5 Becky Losses Her Spot

Becky's road to the Women's Title is harder than it seems.
Becky's road to the Women's Title is harder than it seems.

The one narrative WWE is getting right at the moment is the feud between Charlotte, Becky and Ronda Rousey.

As the subplots, side angles and twists have all been done as well as one could expect them to be, and after the commotion on Monday Night Raw this week with Ronda Rousey almost losing her title, Stephanie McMahon decided that at Fastlane Becky will face Charlotte.

And if Becky beats her adversary she has the chance to be added to the title match at Wrestlemania.

And while you may say that doesn't make any sense as Becky won the Royal Rumble, which is a one-way ticket to the main event of WrestleMania, but WWE is clearly trying to make the mountain harder for Becky to climb.

But the one thing that no one is thinking about in this scenario is, what if Becky doesn't win at Fastlane?

What happens next? That is a question fans have been asking since this narrative begun, and it is a high possibility this route could be taken at Fastlane, as WWE throwing another curveball at fans will see them unite in Becky's favour.

But you might be saying to yourself, how does Becky get into this match at Wrestlemania? Well, that could be something WWE uses to put the final touches on this feud in the coming weeks, as it is better leaving fans asking more questions, instead of leaving them waiting for something exciting to happen.

#6 New Day Rocks Up

The New Day won't take this lying down
The New Day won't take this lying down

The night Kevin Owens returned to WWE was the best night of his career and the worst night of Kofi Kingston's, as this was a night that Kofi had dreamed about since he decided to take up wrestling as a profession. But Vince McMahon robbed the New Day member of that opportunity.

As McMahon's reasoning for replacing Kofi with Owens was based on the fact that Owens is a bigger star than Kofi, and this was a decision that was rejected by fans, as Kofi had become the most over babyface in less than two weeks due to his performances across that period.

As Owens is taking on Daniel Bryan at Fastlane, will we ever see Kofi in a WWE Title match again?

Well, if rumors are anything to go by, then we could, as the speculated plans for Wrestlemania could see Kofi in a World Title match.

As mentioned earlier in this article judging from the landscape of things at this point the WWE Title match at Wrestlemania could be a multi-man match, but the question is how does Kofi get into the mix?

Well, if WWE wants to make Kingston a focal point in this programme, Fastlane may be the place to do that.

The New Day was not happy about the decision to take out Kofi from the WWE Title match, so much so it will feel organic if they try and ruin it.

Kofi, Big E and Xavier refusing to play by the rules will be a scene worth watching, as they destroy the WWE Title match.

This will be the best option for WWE if they want to get Kofi back into this match, as a shocking beatdown that sees Kofi forcefully fight for his dreams is headline worthy.

#7 Ambrose Is Done With His Brothers

No more mister nice guy
No more mister nice guy

The one thing that had fans buzzing this week on Raw was the reunion of The Shield, Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns managed to put their differences to unite against the top heels of Raw.

But for many fans, something didn't feel the same, as something was missing in this reunion, and that was the feeling.

Now no one really knows what that feeling was, but it can be described, it was the feeling of "should I care?".

Most of you might not have had that feeling as it doesn't matter how many times the Shield breaks and makes up, you still love them.

But for some fans of the trio that feeling was missing has WWE has done this angle so many times in the last few years, it has lost its uniqueness.

And from the sound of certain rumours, it seems like that is what WWE was going for, we could see something career changing for Dean Ambrose.

Dean Ambrose's heel turn was a failure and there is no sugar coating it, but it seems like WWE is going to give it a second try, as many believe that Ambrose will turn heel on his brothers at Fastlane, which will set up Ambrose vs Reigns at WrestleMania.

This will be a shocker on the night if WWE goes through with it, as turning Ambrose from a heel to a babyface then back to a heel is risky business, but if Ambrose's motivations make sense, WWE should go for it. As Ambrose vs Reigns could be show-stealing.
