WWE/Impact News: Impact Wrestling is still trying to file for trademarks on the Broken Gimmick

As the weeks pass, Matt & Jeff show more “broken” traits.

What’s the story?

Mike Johnson from PWInsider is reporting on the trademarks that Impact Wrestling have filed in an attempt to try and control the Broken Hardy gimmick. The four trademarks they are trying to attain are as follows: Broken Matt, Brother Nero, Broken Brilliance, and Vanguard 1.

In case you didn’t know...

Matt and Jeff Hardy have been teasing the return of the Broken persona as each week passes and it has gradually increased ever since they returned at WrestleMania 33. When they confronted Sheamus and Cesaro on Monday Night Raw last week, it was actually the first time that Jeff used the delete gesture.

The heart of the matter...

Three of the four filings were available on PWInsider and you can view them below:

As you can see, these were all filed on April 28th but it is hard to tell their intentions. Are they trying to set up the fillings to block the WWE or is it a part of the rumour that a deal is nearly struck between the two parties as explained in an earlier article?

What’s next?

It is possible that neither the WWE or Anthem will announce an agreement publicly as we may discover the results as they play out on Monday Night Raw.

Author’s take...

Anthem and Impact Wrestling have been very petty on this whole situation, so it could be a last-ditch effort to block the Hardy’s from using the gimmick that Matt supposedly came up with in the first place.

Getting in a legal struggle with the WWE would be an uphill battle, so this could just be part of the proceedings for a deal between the two companies. Let’s just hope that is the case because the fans are the one’s suffering at this point.
