WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: December 19th, 2016

Settling the main event chaos is a must

Roman Reigns did not become the Conor McGregor of WWE. He failed to take the WWE Universal Championship away from Kevin Owens, but the way the match ended might’ve made the fans think that a win for Reigns would’ve been the better scenario.

Elsewhere, the hot-potato once again ended up with Charlotte as her pay-per-view streak continued and Sasha Banks played the victim.

The highlight of Roadblock was perhaps the return of Neville. He came in, turned heel and made it clear that he is going to haunt the Cruiserweight division. With all that happening on the show, the upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw has a lot of ground to make up and here is a look at what all we could see on the show.

#5 The swerves of the main event

What next for everyone?

The main event of Roadblock had its share of controversies. Chris Jericho came out and delivered a code breaker to Kevin Owens towards the end and gave the fans an impression that the friendship might be over. But it turned out to be a tactic from Jericho to keep the title around his best friend’s waist and the story of their friendship is far from over.

Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns had a reunion to take out their common enemies after the match, but the complications of the main event scene still exist. If WWE does not hit the refresh button on this feud, they might have huge problems ahead of Royal Rumble.

#4 The team that ended the reign

And New

Last week has been sweet and sour for New Day. On Monday night, they came up with two successful title defences and broke Demolition’s record. Just days after this triumph, the team dropped the title to Cesaro and Sheamus at Roadblock.

I believe the way New Day was booked is understandable.

They have gone into the books as one of the greatest tag teams ever, and it was now time to freshen up the division. To be frank, Cesaro and Sheamus deserve the title.

The forgettable singles run of both men found a ray of hope thanks to this pairing and finally; it has changed their luck. This week, they deserve the limelight and hopefully, they will get it as well.

#3 Sami the Survivor

Will WWE protect Zayn or let him continue against Strowman?

The underdog saga of Sami Zayn reached a plateau at Roadblock when he survived ten minutes with Braun Strowman. Rather than chasing glory, it was all about surviving for Zayn, and he did just that. He proved Mick Foley and all the other doubters wrong, but the story is far from over.

Strowman seemed pissed off by the way it ended, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he goes after Zayn again. While this would be the logical path to take, WWE might protect Zayn and put Strowman into a different feud.

With Royal Rumble in the horizon, such a booking decision wouldn’t hurt anyone and the Zayn – Strowman storyline could be a subplot for the Rumble match so that neither of the Superstars will have to take a fall.

#2 The Neville syndrome

Neville will shake things up for sure

The Cruiserweight division delivered a decent match at Roadblock. TJ Perkins, Brian Kendrick and the reigning champion Rich Swann had plenty of action to showcase and in the end, Swann managed to keep the gold around his waist. With two of his immediate contenders out of the way, the question that puzzles the fans now is: what’s next for Swann?

With Neville making a post-match statement, he is the immediate contender that could make an impact. It was great to see Neville back in the mix, and his star power is something that the division could make use of.

Also, the Cruiserweight division has been failing to create ‘characters’ due to a wide range of reasons with the only exception being Jack Gallagher. I believe that making Gallagher the new contender would make the fans tune in, giving the division the boost it needs.

#1 And again

Charlotte got the title back

The pay-per-view streak of Charlotte is not a myth. She became the four-time Raw Women’s champion on Sunday night when she defeated Sasha Banks in an iron man match. The match, as an isolated entity, excelled. Both women told a great story with wrestling, but the bigger picture tells a different story.

The title has been changing to and fro for a long time now and fans want to know if Sasha will get another rematch. If we are going to see another match, it would probably turn out to be a disaster as the feud has been stretched beyond its limit already.

If not, then the new contender for Charlotte will be a major talking point on Raw. Will it be Bayley or will someone else get a shot? We will find out on Raw.
