WWE Money in the Bank 2019: 4 Matches which could main event

Which match will close the show?
Which match will close the show?

For the first time in Money In The Bank history, the pay-per-view is scheduled to take place in the month of May. Usually, WWE has the Money In The Bank pay-per-view in the month of June or July. Perhaps, this could be a reason why the WWE Universe is not that excited about this year's show.

Here's how the match card of the 2019 Money In The Bank pay-per-view looks -

  1. Universal Championship -- Seth Rollins (c) vs. AJ Styles
  2. WWE Championship -- Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Kevin Owens
  3. Raw Women's Championship -- Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lacey Evans
  4. SmackDown Women's Championship -- Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair
  5. Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match -- Sami Zayn, Ricochet, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, Finn Balor, Ali, Andrade, Randy Orton
  6. Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match -- Nikki Cross, Naomi, Natalya, Dana Brooke, Bayley, Mandy Rose, Ember Moon, Carmella
  7. Roman Reigns vs. Elias
  8. The Miz vs. Shane McMahon (Steel Cage Match)
  9. United States Championship -- Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
  10. SmackDown Tag Team Championship - Daniel Bryan and Rowan (c) vs The Usos

WWE has tried its best to prepare a credible match card. However, the build up to the event has not been that exciting. But, with the ratings being at an all-time low, expect WWE to lace up their boots and deliver a stellar show.

Here are the 4 matches which could main event the pay-per-view.

#4 SmackDown Women's Championship - Becky Lynch (c) vs Charlotte Flair

A title change is guaranteed here
A title change is guaranteed here

Starting with the least likely candidate to main event the show, this SmackDown Women's Championship match has the calibre to steal the show. The two ladies know each other extremely well and even featured in the WrestleMania 35 main event.

The reason why I would pick this match to close the show is to have Ms. Money In The Bank cash-in or Ronda Rousey interfere. WWE can shock the world by having Bayley win the briefcase and cash-in on the same night, or Ronda Rousey can destroy both her nemeses to keep the WWE Universe wondering if she has joined the blue brand (Remember, it is the SmackDown title match).

Just to keep things abuzz and not to get a clean finish, I would have Charlotte and Becky in the main event.

#3 WWE Championship - Kofi Kingston (c) vs Kevin Owens

Will Kofimania continue?
Will Kofimania continue?

Kofi Kingston defied all odds and won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. He had kicked off his reign in a solid manner with a WWE Champion vs Universal Champion match versus Seth Rollins. Though the match ended in a disqualification, it gave a hint to the fans how exciting Kofi's reign will be.

Kevin Owens next emerged as his first rival and now the two men will fight for the title at Money In The Bank. Owens has never won the WWE Championship, while this will be the first occasion where Kofi defends his WWE title on a pay-per-view. The stakes are at their highest and there will always be a threat looming of a possible Money In The Bank cash-in if WWE puts this match last.

There is also a chance that Xavier Woods may cost Kofi the match leading to an instant buzz in the WWE Universe.

If WWE has not planned anything big for this match then this one should not close the show, but with the FOX deal coming up, I smell something big brewing in there.

#2 Men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match

8 men. Multiple Ladders. 1 career-changing contract
8 men. Multiple Ladders. 1 career-changing contract

WWE have the best set of 8 men colliding in this year's Money In The Bank ladder match. They have the experienced campaigners in Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn and Randy Orton, apart from the debutants Andrade, Ali and Ricochet. Drew McIntyre and Finn Balor will make sure the heel-face dynamics are balanced in the match.

There is no run-away favorite to win the ladder match but Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin are the leading superstars who can take the contract to RAW. Meanwhile Andrade is the one who will try to take the briefcase to Tuesday nights.

WWE wants to have their Mr. Money In The Bank have a good run with the briefcase before he cashes in and thus, closing the match with the Money In The Bank winner standing tall is the best first step WWE could take in that direction.

#1 WWE Universal Championship - Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles

Seth is the favorite to retain
Seth is the favorite to retain

In what is being hailed as the match of the decade, Seth Rollins will put his Universal Championship on the line against the Phenomenal AJ Styles. Styles has never won the Universal title while this is the first time Rollins will defend the title on a pay-per-view. As compared to the WWE Championship match, the stakes for this bout are very high.

Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar are heavily rumored to interfere in this match-up whereas some fans believe that Gallows and Anderson will help AJ win the title. A lot of unpredictability surrounds this contest and thus, this one should main event the show.
