WWE News: Becky Lynch and Sami Zayn confirmed for WWE MMC, their first reactions

<p>

What’s the story?

We're now getting down to the business end of WWE MMC team announcements and after dropping hints about a likely team, as we reported yesterday, WWE has just confirmed the rumor in the form of the penultimate team for SmackDown Live - Sami Zayn and Becky Lynch!

In case you didn’t know…

WWE is hosting the Mixed Match Challenge live on Facebook Watch, with male and female Superstars being paired together to face off in tag team action for a cash prize to be donated to their dedicated charity.

Yesterday, WWE India took to Twitter to hint at the next pairing...

With Sami and Becky both quickly reacting...

The heart of the matter

Now the competition is really heating up.

Sami Zayn and Becky Lynch join an already star-studded line-up including Bayley and Elias, Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss, Finn Balor and Sasha Banks, Bobby Roode and Charlotte, Miz and Asuka, Apollo Crews and Nia Jax, Goldust and Alicia Fox, Rusev and Lana, Jimmy Uso and Naomi.

Now that the pairing has finally been announced, could we see Becky Lynch join the Yep Movement for the MMC? I guess we'll need to wait and see:

The pair has been on TV together before, albeit very briefly in a backstage segment.

What’s next?

Well, Becky Lynch returned on SmackDown Live tonight having not competed in a one-on-one match since November 7th. She faced off against Ruby Riott and came out on top.

Meanwhile, Sami Zayn too played a big part too when he and Owens took on Orton, Nakamura and, Styles in a 3-on-4 handicap match in a losing effort.

We'll see if there's any fallout from the announcement later tonight but, either way, we won't have to wait too long to see how this plays out.

WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge airs from January 16th (immediately after SmackDown Live), running for 12 weeks and will be a knock-out tournament leading to a $100,000 prize in the form of a donation for a charity of their choice.

Author’s take

The reaction to the hint this duo would be teaming together was pretty huge, so this seems like a very smart choice by WWE. The only question mark is that Sami is currently working heel and Becky face, but they may just completely ignore that and have both work face, or use the dynamic to tell a story of conflict in the ring between them.

Who knows? Either way, adding these two to an already ridiculously exciting line-up can only be a good thing, and this seems like a very good way to start off the year from WWE!
