WWE News: Bret Hart would love to have The Hart Foundation inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame

What's the story?

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed a wish of one of the biggest stars of the WWF in the 1980's and 1990's, Bret Hart. The wish is for the Hart Foundation to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame soon.

In case you didn't know...

After the very public feud between Bret and Vince McMahon due to the Montreal Screwjob, both sides buried the hatchet which allowed Bret Hart to return to the WWE in 2010. The night he returned, he had a face-off with Shawn Michaels, the man who Hart lost to in the Screwjob. The two put the past behind them, shook hands, and hugged it out.

The heart of the matter...

The Hart Foundation consisted of Bret Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. It was one of the premier tag teams of the WWF during the late 1980's and early 1990's. This team made their debut in 1985 before disbanding in 1991 as Bret focused on what became a Hall Of Fame singles career.

In 1991, Owen Hart returned to the WWF and collaborated with Neidhart to form The New Foundation until 1994. In 1997, The Hart Foundation returned as a stable including The British Bulldog and Brian Pillman as well as Bret, Owen, and Jim.

It is unknown whether Bret is referring to the tag team that won two WWF Tag Team Championships or he wants the entire stable included.

Bret wants The Hart Foundation to be inducted because Anvil is battling significant health issues. Bret was quoted saying, "if he doesn't come now, he may not be able to enjoy it and perform at this stage of his life. It would mean a lot for Neidhart."

What's next?

Next up for the WWE is Raw's 25th anniversary from New York City this Monday. It is a celebration of the 25 years that the flagship show of the WWE has been on the air. Unfortunately, Bret Hart will be unable to attend the program as he is meeting with a hand surgeon in Calgary, Alberta, Canada who is flying in from Paris, France, and he couldn't reschedule.

Author's take

While I am not sure whether the WWE would induct the full stable (as they were only in existence for a few months), the Hart Foundation tag team should, without doubt, be in the WWE Hall Of Fame. They personified tag team wrestling in a time when there were not a lot of pure tag teams until Demolition came along in 1987.
