The heart of the matter

In the interview, Jericho revealed how Vince McMahon changed Jericho's hometown, arguing that nobody would cheer for a babyface Canadian.

"I was born in Manhasset, New York, because my father played for the New York Rangers. Then I moved to Winnipeg. Funny story, in about the mid-2000s when Vince McMahon decided you couldn’t be from Canada and be a babyface.

"For whatever reason, his mindset was that nobody could cheer a Canadian. I’m not kidding. I was told that you can’t be from Winnipeg anymore, you’re from Tampa. Well, I’m not from Tampa, I just live there. ‘Where were you born?’ Manhasset. ‘That’s too country, you’re now from Manhattan, New York.’ It probably lasted six months, but Vince would go through these things sometimes."
