WWE King of the Ring 2019 tournament continued on SmackDown Live with two quarterfinal matches. While Elias defeated Ali to win the first quarterfinals of the night, Andrade and Chad Gable fought it out to determine the final semifinalist of this year's King of the Ring.
The ever-confident Andrade dominated most of the match with proper outside assistance from Zelina Vega. But somehow Chad Gable managed to grab the win.
WWE King of the Ring 2019 semifinals set
This week on RAW and SmackDown Live, the quarterfinals of the WWE King of the Ring 2019 tournament took place. From RAW, Baron Corbin defeated Cedric Alexander to advance to the next round while both Samoa Joe and Ricochet progressed to the semifinals as their match ended in a no-contest.
Tonight on SmackDown Live, Elias defeated Ali and surprisingly Chad Gable overcame Andrade to head into the next round of the King of the Ring tournament.
Next week, when WWE returns to Madison Square Garden with both RAW and SmackDown Live, Baron Corbin, Samoa Joe, and Ricochet will be battling it out to determine the finalist from the RAW side. On the other hand, Elias will be taking on Chad Gable to determine the finalist representing the Blue Brand.
The rise of Chad Gable
Chad Gable did not receive much exposure since his inclusion in the SmackDown Live roster. However, the King of the Ring tournament has provided him with the needed platform. His back to back victories against his former tag team partner Shelton Benjamin and the former NXT Champion Andrade undoubtedly revived his tenure.
If he somehow wins the entire King of the Ring tournament, he will be rightfully earning his spot as one of the top-tier athletes in the entire WWE.
