WWE News: Goldust responds to Curt Hawkins' kind words, offers him high praise

Curt Hawk
Curt Hawkins and Goldust have clashed often on WWE Live events lately...

What's the story?

On Tuesday, we reported on a story that WWE.com picked up on Curt Hawkins mentioning his coolest loss in his ongoing 179-match losing streak when he faced Goldust in the same building that The Bizarre One took on "Rowdy" Roddy Piper in the famous Hollywood Backlot Brawl at WrestleMania XII. Just a couple of hours after Hawkins' tweet, Goldust would respond with some kind words.

In case you didn't know...

Both Hawkins and Goldust have had lengthy pro wrestling careers. In 2004, Hawkins got his start with New York-area promotions before signing with the WWE in 2006. Goldust's legendary career will hit the 30-year mark in 2018 as he began wrestling in 1988 for WCW.

The heart of the matter

Take a look at the original tweet from Curt Hawkins, along with Goldust's response below:

I believe it was Chris Jericho that said wins and losses don't mean anything in pro wrestling as long as you create memorable moments, and it appears that Hawkins and Goldust provided one for the crowd on the Main Event taping this week. Though Hawkins has a massive losing streak, it is a gimmick within the WWE that is getting him noticed.

Neither of the two men has been featured much on Monday Night Raw as of late, but both are getting some recent notoriety with Hawkins' streak and the praise for Goldust's work teaming with Mandy Rose in the WWE Mixed Match Challenge.

What's next?

It's unknown what's next for both Hawkins and Goldust, but one person replied to Goldust's tweet suggesting they form the Gold and Hawk team. I would expect both gentlemen to be involved in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania this year in New Orleans.

Author's take

I was on hand for a WWE Live event earlier this month where these two wrestled, and for two guys that aren't on television much, it truly was a highly entertaining match. Goldust even got his name chanted during it.

It was really cool of Goldust to say the things he said in that tweet. It showed a lot of true respect for Hawkins. As the fan on Twitter said, I wouldn't mind a tag team with these guys.
