WWE News: Great Khali's trainee performs 40 rolls at WWE Dubai tryouts

Khali trainee performs 40 consecutive baby rolls at the Dubai tryouts.

What’s the story?

The WWE recently posted a video of its Dubai tryouts that showed an Indian wrestler named Dinesh Kumar performing 40 consecutive rolls inside the ring.

In case you didn’t know...

Dinesh Kumar is a protégé of former WWE World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali. Khali (Dalip Singh Rana) trains professional wrestling hopefuls in his motherland of Punjab, India at his CWE (Continental Wrestling Entertainment) Academy in Jalandhar.

The heart of the matter

The Khali pupil who goes by the name Dinesh Kumar can be seen performing forty baby rolls simultaneously in the video that’s been posted by WWE. Kumar’s feat of athleticism was performed under the supervision of former WWE Superstar and current WWE Performance Center head trainer, Matt Bloom. Here is the video:

Kumar, who hails from India, can be seen completing the task despite appearing to be a bit dazed around the 30th roll. The young Indian prospect was encouraged by a few of his countrymen who can be heard yelling the phrase “Chal, Dinesh!” roughly translating to “Let’s go Dinesh!” in their native language of Hindi.

What’s next?

The WWE held its Dubai tryouts given the imminent global expansion plans of the company, especially in the middle east and India.

WWE Vice President of Talent Development Canyon Ceman noted that the company’s decision to hold the aforementioned tryouts in Dubai was owing to Dubai being one of the most culturally diverse places in the world, which in turn matches up well with the WWE’s global expansion agenda.

Author’s take

Although Dalip Singh aka Khali was heavily criticised for his alleged lack of athleticism during his time inside the squared-circle, the man deserves huge props for churning out an uber-prospect such as Dinesh Kumar from his academy.

With Canadian-Indian stars such as Jinder Mahal ascending to main-event status and young prospects like Kumar making waves, I think it’s safe to say that the WWE has really started to pay attention toward its loyal fanbase in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.
