WWE WrestleMania 33 News: John Cena comments on rumors of him proposing to Nikki Bella at WWE WrestleMania 33

John Cena and Nikki Bella look to do the same against Miz and Maryse this Sunday...

What’s the story?

John Cena and Nikki Bella were recently on The Today Show to promote WrestleMania 33. During the course of their interview, they were informed that people are betting on if Cena will propose to Bella at the pay per view.

Cena simply responded with “First tip, never bet on the WWE. That’s all I need to say about that.” Bella also mentioned that this is a subject they’ll address in private, rather than in public.

In case you didn’t know...

The couple has been together since 2012. Marriage was a big topic of conversation on Total Divas because Cena went through a messy divorce earlier that year. He claims that he’ll never marry again. However, many feel that he’s softened his stance on that due to his long-term relationship with Nikki.

The heart of the matter

The rumour of Cena and Bella becoming a tag team and taking on The Miz and Maryse started a couple of months before it was actually played out on TV. It immediately sparked rumours of an in-ring proposal.

Then once the feud began to take off, the subject of marriage (or lack thereof) became a major part of the angle. It further fueled speculation, and that is why there isn’t a big return on your money if you place that bet with such low odds.

What’s next?

The final jabs in the feud occurred on the latest episode of SmackDown Live as it will be the final episode before WrestleMania. All that’s left now is the tag match that will take place on Sunday. Expect Cena to take some time off after WrestleMania to film Daddy’s Home 2.

Author’s take

It is no surprise that Cena remained vague while answering the question. I still feel like it is going to happen after they’re victorious at WrestleMania. It is going to be such a unique and huge event on the biggest pay per view of the year. Therefore, it makes complete sense for them not to give that away publicly on The Today Show.
