WWE News: John Cena would love to play Vince McMahon in upcoming biopic

John Cena has words of high praise for the script of Pandemonium.

What’s the story?

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, John Cena revealed that he would love to portray Vince McMahon in the upcoming biopic based on the life and times of the WWE Chairman and CEO.

In case you didn’t know...

As we had previously reported, a major Hollywood production house is reportedly working on the Vince McMahon biopic Pandemonium. The script has been critically-acclaimed by several industry insiders in Hollywood and the star cast for the movie is yet to be finalised.

The heart of the matter

John Cena asserted that he’d like to play the role of Mr McMahon in Pandemonium. Here are a few excerpts from his statements-

“There is a story out there about the life and times of Vince McMahon. Man, I think it is a wonderful script from word one. That would be something I’d love to do, but I feel maybe a different actor should do that movie, just because of how powerful the story is and I would hate for the audience to feel that it is a WWE-produced product. And that’s not in a bad way, it’s just I want them to feel the emotion that I felt reading the script. I can just tell you that it’s out there and that it’s awesome and man, if it were all different, I would certainly love to step into Vince’s shoes.”

The Leader of the Cenation is no stranger to Hollywood, having appeared in several movies in the past, with his most recent release The Wall, hitting theatres this May 12th. Besides, Cena was in Massachusetts this week filming Daddy’s Home 2 alongside Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

What’s next?

John Cena may not bag the lead role in the Vince McMahon biopic but is set to return to WWE very soon. Besides, with Pandemonium still in its developmental phase, fans can expect further details regarding the movie on the WWE boss to be revealed in the days to come.

Author’s take

My hat is off to John Cena. The man is truly honest in his assessment as to why he shouldn’t play Mr McMahon, in what will be arguably the biggest WWE-based movie to date. I do hope that the Tinseltown execs succeed in finding someone as mercurial and charismatic as McMahon himself, to play the lead in Pandemonium.
