What's the story?
When Paige returned to RAW from injury, she did not come alone. The WWE Superstar brought two NXT stars along with her- Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.
Now Paige finds herself in a new role on SmackDown Live as the General Manager. When Rose found out that Paige would not be showing any favouritism towards her and Deville, she sent the following Tweet out.
In case you didn't know...
Paige announced her retirement recently at a very young age, because of injuries that she'd sustained during her wrestling career. She was drafted to SmackDown Live, where she replaced the now actively competing Daniel Bryan as the SmackDown Live General Manager.
Absolution was drafted to SmackDown Live as well as part of the Superstar Shake-Up. While Paige had apparently turned face, Rose and Deville still seemingly remained heels. This led to a very interesting confrontation this week.
Rose and Deville seemed upset that Paige would not play favourites as General Manager of SmackDown Live. This motivated Rose to send out the Tweet.
The heart of the matter
It is clear that Absolution, the all-female faction that once ran through the women of RAW has come to a premature end. While Rose and Deville may still be allied, Paige has been recast as an impartial babyface authority figure right now.
We wonder if this Tweet and the interactions between the women on SmackDown Live will result in a program between Absolution and Paige. The conflict would obviously not be resolved in a ring as Paige is not cleared to compete anymore.
What's next?
Absolution seems to be at odds with Becky Lynch. We wonder what the next chapter of this rivalry will be. With the IIconics and Absolution in the same brand, is it time for Women's Tag Team titles?
Author's take
I doubt there will be a long, drawn out program between Rose and Paige. This was perhaps a one-off Tweet, playing off their on-screen angle.
It'll be interesting to see how Rose fares without Paige in the same faction.
