What’s the story?

WWE SmackDown Live General Manager Paige emotionally reacts to her release of the biopic film: “Fighting With My Family”. The movie documents Paige and her wrestling family as they go through various trials and tribulations in order to succeed in the wrestling industry.

In case you didn’t know…

Paige is a former multi-time Women’s Champion. She became the first ever NXT Women’s Champion in late mid 2013 by defeating EMMA (Tenille Dashwood). She would hold the championship for approximately 274 days. She was forced to vacate the championship in April 2014 after Paige made her main roster debut, defeating then WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee to capture the title.

She would go on to hold the WWE Divas Championship on two occasions. During the course of her career, she has held multiple women’s championships all across the globe for many different Indy promotions priors to her WWE debut in 2012. Paige was forced to retire from the ring in April 2018 due to a severe neck injury she suffered in December 2017 at a house show while competing in a six-woman tag match.

The heart of the matter

Paige gave an emotional reaction on Twitter to the release of the movie trailer that documents her families lifestyle within’ the wrestling industry. The movie is a co-production between WWE Films and Film4 studios, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson serving as a co-star and producer. The movie stars Florence Pugh as Saraya “Paige” Bevis, Jack Lowden as Zac “Zodiac” Bevis, Nick Frost as Patrick “Ricky Knight” Bevis and Lena Headey as Julia “Sweet Saraya” Bevis. The film: “Fighting with My Family” documents the Bevis/Knight family as they struggle and work through various issues in order to make it in the wrestling business.

The film focuses specifically on the brother and sister duo, Saraya (Paige) and Zak, as they begin their rise through the wrestling industry. Impact Wrestling’s Tessa Blanchard acts as a stunt double for Paige in the film, while Thea Trinidad (WWE’s Zelina Vega) portrays AJ Lee.

What’s next

“Fighting with My Family” is scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom and the United States on February 14th 2019.
