WWE News: Ric Flair reacts to viral "Ric Flair Drip" music video, comments on John Cena

What’s the story?

Ric Flair isn't a man to shy away from the headlines, in fact, "shy" probably isn't a word that exists in the Nature Boy's vocabulary - and the 16-time World Champion hit the headlines last week when the video for Ric Flair Drip dropped, starring Offset, 21 Savage, and Metro Boomin.

Well, Revolt interviewed Flair 24 hours removed from the release of the video to get his reaction - as well as asking about John Cena tying his record for championship reigns.

In case you didn’t know...

The song "Ric Flair Drip" was released by Offset from rap group Migos and record producer Metro Boomin, in collaboration with 21 Savage for the Without Warning album.

The audio for the song was released on 21 Savage’s YouTube page back on Oct. 31, 2017, amassing 49 million views. The song also earned Offset his first Platinum single after selling more than one million copies.

The music video was released on 21 Savage’s Vevo YouTube page on March 1 and has already reached over 8 million views at the time of this writing.

The heart of the matter

Well, Revolt caught up with Ric Flair to ask about how he felt about the video among other things, with Flair saying he felt "Great, relaxed" and was "enjoying the notoriety" he was getting from Offset.

When asked how the pair ended up collaborating, Flair said he knew Offset was a fan and Cam Fordham reached out to see if he wanted to do it, Flair's reply? "Hell yeah."

I got to spend the day with [Offset] and he's just a phenomenal young man. So respectful, so just genuine. He's a real guy. Great music. He's just living that life; that life that I love.

When asked about the video, Flair responded in typical Flair fashion - that he is also living that life.

Trust me, me going "Wooo!" and dancing along, limousine riding, that was me. I didn't have any problems doing it. So it wasn't painful.

Revolt asked Flair how he feels about artists making songs about him or asking him to appear in videos...

I mean it's so rewarding. It's hard to explain all that stuff I did in the '80s. All that money I spent on jewelry when nobody was wearing it. It's all coming back around full circle.

The Nature Boy also added that he had some regrets about his frivolous spending, but that everything has worked out in the end and those regrets are no longer there.

I used to sometimes want to kill myself later in life for all the money I spent renting jet airplanes, limousines, and all of that. But, now it's coming back full circle. I don't regret any of it. To have the respect of guys like Snoop Dogg, who I've been friends with forever, and Offset, whose career and future is unlimited, I'm thrilled by it.

Flair also referenced his "Woo!" catchphrase coming from Jerry Lee Lewis in 1974, and now transcending music genres into hip hop.

One other notable thing Revolt asked Ric Flair about was how he felt about John Cena tying his record of 16-time World Championship reigns.

I think it's great. If anybody deserves that honor, it's John. He's a trooper. 16 years, no time off, very unselfish, the king of Make-A-Wish, Just a great guy. He's the flagship. He has done everything that it takes.

That's all well and good, but what if Cena were to break the record?

John completely devoted and committed to being the flagship for the company and he is. So if he wins 17, I'll be happy for him. I'll be the person to shake his hand.

What’s Next?

Well, Revolt also asked Flair about one other thing he wants to accomplish, with the Nature Boy jokingly responding that he wants to be in a video with Cardi B - Offset's fiancee.

Don't tell Offset I said that. She's really good herself too. They really look like a really hot couple and they're gonna make a lot of headlines for a longtime.

As for the world of wrestling, Ric Flair's next big appearance as at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention on March 9 in Lexington, Kentucky and will be joined by Jim Cornette, Rey Mysterio and fellow WWE Hall of Famers Kevin Nash, Trish Stratus, Lita and Booker T.

Well, after the tough times Ric Flair was struggling with recently, it's awesome to see him having some fun and still getting the world talking. Flair is truly one of the greatest of all time.
