WWE News: Ric Flair was backstage for Monday Night Raw this week

Ric Flair is recovering from surgery this past August...

What's the story?

Michael Cole confirmed on this week's Monday Night Raw broadcast that two-time WWE Hall of Famer, Ric Flair was backstage visiting in Atlanta, Georgia. It was his first visit to the WWE since emergency surgery in August.

In case you didn't know...

In mid-August, Flair was hospitalised in critical condition for an undisclosed ailment, but it affected multiple organs in Flair's body.

He has since made a recovery and admitted that drinking was a big factor in the decline of his health and vowed to never have a drink again.

The heart of the matter

Sportskeeda reported last month that with Monday Night Raw heading to Atlanta, Georgia, there was a chance that Flair would make his return to the WWE to possibly thank the crowd for all of their well-wishes while he was recovering.

While he didn't appear on camera, he was backstage visiting all of his old friends, including Triple H, who made his on-screen return last night as the fifth member of Team Raw at Survivor Series.

What's next?

It is unknown what is next for Flair as he continues to recover, but you can find out when he's doing appearances and signings for his book Second Nature by following him on Twitter @RicFlairNatrBoy.

His daughter Charlotte Flair will wrestle Natalya tonight on SmackDown Live for a chance at the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship. It is unknown at this time if Flair travelled to Charlotte, North Carolina for the show tonight at the time of this writing.

Author's take

It was great to hear that Ric was backstage at Raw last night, especially on a night where Triple H made his big return to television. Flair has said in the past that Triple H is the best friend he has right now, so I can imagine it was a special moment with a lot of tears of joy for the Nature Boy.

Health-permitting for Ric, I'd love to see him make his television return at WrestleMania or sometime before if he is able to, give him the microphone and a chance to thank the fans for their support.
