WWE News: Roman Reigns receives stitches at Live Event in Melbourne

Reigns after his match at a live event in Melbourne, Australia

WWE recently went on a tour of New Zealand and Australia, going to Auckland and Melbourne respectively. The live event was the reason why stars such as John Cena, AJ Styles, Apollo Crews did not appear on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live. Roman Reigns was involved in a tag team match, teaming with Finn Balor against Chris Jericho and Seth Rollins in what was said to be an extremely entertaining bout.

Roman Reigns and Finn Balor defeated Chris Jericho and Seth Rollins when Reigns hit a Superman punch and a spear on Jericho, right after Balor hit a Coup de Grace on Rollins. Fun match but the highlight was said to be some of the mic work courtesy of Rollins and Jericho. Reigns’ big finish was met with mostly boos.

During the match, Reigns got cut beside his left eye, and subsequently had to receive stitches after the match. WWE’s official website posted pictures of The Big Dog getting stitched backstage.

Here are some of the photos:

The results of the other matches from the Melbourne, Australia show on August 11th were as follows:

  • Apollo Crews def. Sheamus
  • Braun Strowman def. Jey Uso
  • US Champion Rusev def. Titus O’Neil
  • Rusev won with the Accolade while Lana wore her wedding dress on the outside
  • WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day def. The Club (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows). Big E made a surprise appearance and received a huge pop
  • WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks def. Charlotte
  • Sami Zayn def. Kevin Owens
  • John Cena def. AJ Styles
  • Roman Reigns is currently in a feud with United States Champion Rusev and is scheduled to face him for the United States Championship at Summerslam. It turns out that the rumors of WWE stopping the push of Reigns as a top guy have turned out to be true because after his suspension, he has been pinned clean twice (by Dean Ambrose and Finn Balor respectively).
  • He was then demoted to a mid-card feud, so it appears that the leader of The Roman Empire will have to work his way up again.
  • This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the last couple of weeks has seen Reigns get slightly more favourable reactions than he has in a long time. It is a long, arduous process to rebuild Roman Reigns, but if it is done organically and in time, he may finally get over.
