WWE News: Shinsuke Nakamura set to speak on SmackDown LIVE

Nakamura will open SmackDown LIVE

What’s the story?

Shinsuke Nakamura is set to speak in an exclusive interview that will open tonight’s edition of SmackDown Live. The Japanese superstar has yet to really feature in a feud since debuting two nights after WrestleMania 33, however it seems likely that a rivalry with Dolph Ziggler will continue to manifest as the weeks go on.

In case you didn’t know...

Nakamura received one of the biggest reactions all weekend in Orlando upon debuting on the main roster, with many fans believing that he’d be instantly thrust into the main event picture.

However, with a dark match against Dolph Ziggler under his belt in addition to a segment between the two the following week, it seems more likely that he’ll be built up from the mid card moving forward.

The heart of the matter

The aforementioned report suggests that Nakamura will indeed have his first full ‘promo’ of sorts during an interview that will kick off SmackDown Live. The event tonight takes place in Des Moines, Iowa, and it’s looking set to be one of the most stacked editions of the blue brand’s show since the brand split, with a Beat The Clock Challenge also set to take place.

What’s next?

We’ll see later on tonight what this interview will entail, but considering the current trajectory of Nakamura’s SD Live career, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Dolph Ziggler interrupt the King of Strong Style. Either way, many fans are interested to see how Shinsuke comes across in this kind of setting.

Author’s take

It seems very odd to us that they’re going to have Nakamura talk in an interview type format, and we feel as if it needs to be different from the regular “question and answer” format that the main roster seems to follow.

One of the best things about Nakamura is that he’s fresh and different, so lumping him together with every other superstar on the roster can only be a bad thing.
