What’s the story?
As reported by Instagram user geekynikkirva, there was a dark tag match that had John Cena and Dean Ambrose teaming up to take on the team of AJ Styles and Baron Corbin. the babyface team of Cena and Ambrose won to send the crowd home happy.
Prior to Smackdown Live went on air, Kalisto defeated Curt Hawkins in a pre-show dark match.
In case you didn’t know...
There was quite the heated rivalry between three of the four participants in the dark match that went on for the major part of 2016. Styles, Ambrose, and Cena were in the WWE World Championship picture, during which Ambrose made it very clear that he didn’t like Cena.
Ambrose is currently scheduled to defend the Intercontinental title against Corbin at WrestleMania while Cena will wrestle his first tag team match at WrestleMania. Styles gets a marquee McMahon bout as he goes up against Shane McMahon.
The heart of the matter...
This was the final piece of the action before WrestleMania weekend in Orlando. The fans in Richmond were treated to what should have been an entertaining match with four of the best wrestlers on the Smackdown Live roster.
What’s next?
All four participants of the dark match will be involved in prominent matches at WrestleMania this weekend.
Cena will tag with his girlfriend to take on The Miz and Maryse in what has been a heated and personal feud. After WrestleMania, Cena will take some time off to film Daddy’s Home 2. Styles will take on Shane McMahon in a feud that stemmed from Styles’ frustration with the Smackdown Live management.
After jumping through the hoops in the world title picture, Styles was left without a WrestleMania match, that was until he attacked Shane a couple of weeks back.
The other two competitors – Ambrose and Corbin – face off against each other for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Corbin will be looking to obtain gold for the first time in his career at the show of shows.

That was a little surprise for the Richmond, VA fans to end the night with a tag match involving four of the top WWE Superstars on Smackdown Live. Now it’s time to make the trip to Orlando and participate in what will be a busy WrestleMania weekend for the roster.
