What’s the story?

The WWE has posted a video celebrating The Shield’s remarkable milestone: the notorious trio's 5-year anniversary.

The Shield made their WWE debut at Survivor Series half a decade ago on November 18th.

In case you didn’t know…

The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns) made their WWE main-roster debut at the Survivor Series PPV on November 18th, 2012.

The popular stable disbanded in 2014 after Rollins turned heel, betraying his comrades. The trio would go on to find tremendous success as singles competitors in the WWE.

The heart of the matter

The Shield reunited a few weeks ago and was expected to compete at their first PPV together after about 3 years at TLC. However, the plan didn’t come to fruition as Roman Reigns contracted a viral disease.

Regardless, they are now set to compete at their first PPV as a team since 2014.

Furthermore, another fun fact that’s got the pro-wrestling community buzzing regarding the whole topic is that The Shield’s 5th anniversary happens to fall on the day of NXT Takeover: WarGames (November 18th, 2017)— a gimmick match known to feature dominant teams much like The Shield.

What’s next?

The Shield is scheduled to face The New Day at WWE’s upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view on November 19th in Houston, Texas.

Author’s take

Firstly, congratulations to The Shield on completing five years in the WWE!

Honestly speaking, The Shield is one of the rare groups in the sport of professional wrestling today, that is truly original, rather than being a cheap rip-off and stealing from factions of old.

Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will be the WWE’s marquee stars in the years to come, and, hopefully, we'll get to witness many more years of The Shield’s greatness.
