WWE: Paul Heyman reveals why he returned, Brock Lesnar's reaction on breaking Undertaker's streak

Brock Lesnar’s manager Paul Heyman

Chris Jericho’s podcast show, Talk is Jericho, had Paul Heyman and Edge as guests this week which has been doing rounds among the WWE fans on the internet.

Heyman and Jericho discussed about several WWE topics, including the end of The Undertaker’s streak at Wrestlemania 30 after his client Brock Lesnar did the unthinkable and conquered the immortal record of 21-0.

"You can hear a pin drop when it happened because everybody was in such shock," Heyman said.

According to the former ECW manager, the situation was similar to the 1971 incident when Ivan Koloff defeated Bruno Sammartino. Apparently, Lesnar had lost his hearing when the referee counted to three. Heyman stated that it was expected that the audience would be shocked after the loss as the streak was a constant invincible record which no one believed that it could be broken.

Heyman also revealed that the infamous pipe bomb from CM Punk was the reason behind his return to the WWE. Initially, when Brock Lesnar came back, he needed someone to assist him on the microphone. John Laurinitis was seen as his mouthpiece, but that idea didn’t work out well.

After an unsuccessful promo, Lesnar suggested to Vince McMahon that he should hire Paul Heyman back in order to do all the talking for him.

Heyman credited Punk’s pipe bomb promo for generating interest about him even after taking so much time off.

Since that promo, Heyman had a lot of people asking him if he was returning. He received a call from WWE citing production problems for the voiceovers, and Heyman told both Jericho and Edge they never have production problems to begin with.

He then met with Triple H, who hinted at working for the company leading up to WrestleMania 29 in New Jersey.
