WWE RAW, 23rd September - Flops of the show

How much longer will he stay as the Champion?

How much longer will he stay as the Champion?

We’re just two weeks away from Battleground and WWE’s Monday night RAW was broadcast live from Chicago, Illionis.

The show featured CM Punk‘s homecoming, the Shield being put in a gauntlet match with Bryan leading the rebels and the Miz speaking about the brutal assault he received at the hands of Randy Orton.

WWE had the tough job of repeating the success of the show last week and maintaining the same level of intensity and excitement both from a storyline and quality standpoint.

Unlike last week, WWE had a few moments that can be regarded as a letdown, or in other words, the flops of the show.

1. Alberto Del Rio continues to disappoint

The World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio is a great in ring performer and there is nobody who can deny that. However, it is not in ring skill alone that defines a person as a champion. A champion, irrespective of being a heel or face, has to be inspiring inside the ring and Del Rio fails miserably at that. He in fact should get the special mention of bringing the World Heavyweight Title to the level of the Intercontinental Title. I’m not sure how long WWE will continue pushing ADR with the title.

2. Santino Marella vs. Fandango

Another wrestler who doesn’t have any sort of direction in the roster now is Fandango. After beating Jericho at Wrestlemania, the dancing sensation was supposed to be among the top wrestlers now. Instead we are now seeing him wrestle with the likes of Santino. Though I have no problems with Santino, it is the lack of storyline that makes the match all the more irritating. WWE has been struggling to put the guy in a decent feud and the main reason behind that could be his character which needs a change almost immediately. The only thing interesting about the match was Summer Rae and Fandango’s leg drop.

3. Total Divas vs. the other Divas

When you have all the Divas in the ring for a match, why not allow everyone to throw a hand or two? With ten Divas in the ring, only four actually wrestled before Brie Bella pinned AJ Lee. The end of the match was perhaps the most disappointing part of the match. The match was exceptionally quick and made the other Divas look like a joke in the ring.
