WWE RAW, 2nd September - 5 talking points

WWE RAW looked like a repeat of last week as it opened up with a Triple H and Randy Orton segment.

After Bryan did some automobile damage, it was time for something big to enter the storyline and turn it to an emotional fest. Plus, Cody Rhodes had a surprise wedding gift which pretty much pleased Sandow. CM Punk had a few strong words and plenty more.

Anyway, without further ado let’s talk about the 5 talking points of the night.

1. The Big Sob Show

Big Show

Ok, so Big Show‘s Iron Clad contract has finally come to light and despite that, Show’s not really ready to go against the management in any way. Why?

Stephanie gave us some explanation which pretty much made no sense at all. Apparently, Big Show is too broke to go against the management and lose his contract.

Anyway, Big Show looked extremely upset after this crying backstage. Why would a wrestler have to be so upset about facing Daniel Bryan? After all, it is just another wrestling match.

This angle looks ridiculous, and it’s not clear where exactly this is heading. The match between Bryan and Show was somewhat interesting and ended with Orton on top of Bryan again. But what transpired after that seemed a bit too emotional for my taking.

Big Show’s glycerin filled performance was not only senseless but hard to understand. Why didn’t Show just knock Bryan out and walk away being furious about what Triple H and Stephanie made him do.

Looks like we will have to see this ‘we won’t wrestle Bryan’ stance from the entire roster in the coming weeks as they have suddenly started caring too much for him.

2. Cody Rhodes’s wedding gift

Cody Rhodes

Rhodes was backstage complaining about Triple H which the latter didn’t take too sportingly. Instead, he put the dashing superstar in a match against Orton and to make matters worse, put his contract on the line in the match. Cody lost the match to Orton and was immediately fired by Triple H.

The best part of this segment came when Cody spoke backstage before being escorted out of the arena. His promo was compelling and deserved to be praised.

He looked emotional while speaking about his father and brother and how WWE had managed to make a mockery out of them. It was a solid performance inside the ring followed by a great backstage promo.

Anyway, the reason Cody is out of WWE now is due to his marriage and his need to spend some quality time with his new wife.

However, Cody’s absence will hurt Damien Sandow who is without any sort of relevance now. Not sure what we will see Sandow doing next.

3. CM Punk delivers a strong promo

CM Punk

After getting beaten and humiliated last week, Punk had a lot to speak about this week. He said he was done with the talking stuff and wanted to get his hands on Heyman. He said he will wait till the Night of Champions for this to happen and promised to get his hands on his former manager.

As always, Punk looked solid on the mic and every time we see him speak, he manages to convince us of what he is saying. Not many have this skill with the mic, and this is what sets Punk aside from the others.

This is, without a doubt, the best storyline at the moment, and I feel it is much better than the Bryan-Corporation angle. Though I feel Punk will become a part of the corporation angle in sometime, for now it will be best to enjoy the feud between the two best speakers in WWE today.

4. Fatal Four Way match at Night of Champions

The Total Divas are, without a doubt, the most irritating part of WWE right now. It looks as though WWE is planning a rift between the Total Divas and the WWE Divas.

AJ was beaten up by the Total Divas after she ran in to interrupt a match between Brie Bella and Natalya. Stephanie intervened and announced a Fatal Four Way match between the lot.

Though there wasn’t anything interesting in the match or what followed next, the storyline seems to be taking a nice turn.

An angle between the Total Divas and the rest of the roster will create a strong storyline for the Divas, who have for a very long time rotted without one. Let’s hope WWE doesn’t end up making a mess of this.

5. RVD continues gaining momentum

Rob Van Dam

Things don’t look too good for Alberto Del Rio at the moment as RVD’s on a hot streak. After defeating Damien Sandow, RVD and Ricardo are seemingly bonding well despite the oddity in their pairing. Ricardo introducing RVD is something I disapprove.

As far as I see it, ADR will retain his title courtesy some help from Ricardo who will turn on RVD to join his former friend. Though I like seeing Ricardo in a T-Shirt, this looks like the most probable angle for this storyline.
