WWE RAW: 5 Reasons why Randy Orton destroyed Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Christian, and The Big Show

Randy Orton destroyed 4 legends on WWE RAW this week

As WWE RAW went off the air, we saw the master of disguise, Randy Orton in a very curious avatar as he went into the lounge where Ric Flair, Christian, The Big Show, and Shawn Michaels were hanging out backstage at WWE RAW. Randy Orton would switch the lights off, and a flurry of chair shots would ensue.

Why did WWE choose to have WWE RAW go off the air with Randy Orton sneaking out of the arena in a suspicious manner? Here are five theories that may essentially help you make some sense of it all, ladies, and gentlemen.

Be sure to leave a comment or two saying whether or not you liked the Randy Orton segment on WWE RAW and indeed, if you agree or not with the assessment.

#5 Randy Orton took his revenge against Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Christian, and The Big Show for their actions at WWE Clash of Champions 2020

If you caught WWE Clash of Champions already, you have probably already seen what an important part Christian, The Big Show, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair played when it came to helping Drew McIntyre remain the WWE Champion. So, let's get the obvious reason out of the way first.

Randy Orton attacked these legends because, in his eyes, they had done him wrong, even though he started it with all of these men.

The very fact that Ric Flair, The Big Show, Shawn Michaels, and Christian had been announced for WWE RAW should have been a big indication that they were going to be decimated. And who better than Randy Orton for a role like this, considering his interaction with these men over the past weeks. Were you a fan of this angle?

#4 Randy Orton is pretty much guaranteed to take on Drew McIntyre at Hell in a Cell, and WWE needed a compelling reason for viewers to tune in

If Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre do meet at Hell in a Cell, as all the signs seem to point towards, it will be their third major clash in a matter of months. Drew McIntyre has been a great WWE Champion and Randy Orton has been on fire over the past few months, but unless there was a reason for the two men to fight after Randy Orton lost two successive matches, the audience wouldn't be interested in yet another Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre clash, even if it was actually happening inside Hell in a Cell.

But the fact that Drew McIntyre's idols have been laid out gives him enough of an impetus to put his title on the line once again against The Viper, a man who is the master of mind games, and also, from what happened on this week's episode of WWE RAW, a master of disguises as well.

#3 WWE RAW did not have either RETRIBUTION or RAW Underground this week and needed a talking point

If you have watched any episode of WWE RAW or SmackDown over the past few months, you have probably noticed how the shows have gone off the air with a hook to get the audience to tune in the following week. Sure, the way that WWE RAW ended wasn't the same level of 'reveal' as, say, Paul Heyman aligning with Roman Reigns or The Hurt Business walking down the ramp with pomp and swagger to take the fight to RETRIBUTION, but for what it was worth, it was still good.

The fallout of the incident will be a major point of discussion in the following WWE RAW episode and this is necessary, because of how many storylines have been held up owing to the ongoing pandemic.

The Women's Tag Team Championships could not be defended at Clash of Champions, RETRIBUTION isn't on air either, and RAW Underground wasn't on this week as well. This is without even mentioning Nikki Cross from SmackDown.

#2 Because Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Christian, and The Big Show have respect and admiration for Randy Orton

This week's episode of WWE RAW began with all of the legends who had a bone to pick with Randy Orton, collected in the ring with Drew McIntyre to start the show. What did not come across is how much respect and admiration Ric Flair, The Big Show, Shawn Michaels, and Christian have for Randy Orton, a man they've seen grow to new heights and levels in WWE. And yes, while they did look weak in how one man with a chair destroyed four legends, they did the job for Randy Orton, someone they are most definitely fond of.

In the business of pro wrestling, you pass on the torch to the next generation of pro wrestlers, as is tradition, and Randy Orton will be a part of the roster for many years.

Maybe in a few years, Ric Flair, Christian, Big Show, and Shawn Michaels will also give the rub to Drew McIntyre when he turns heel.

#1 All said and done, Randy Orton still remains the legend killer

Over the last few months, Randy Orton has been taking the fight to several legends on RAW, and the reason for that is his 'legend killer' gimmick. The actions at the end of the night, when he entered the legends lounge and took the fight to the men gathered there pretty much reminded us that he is still very much 'the legend killer'.

It is clear that even if he does become the WWE Champion, Randy Orton will not stop killing legends and it may take a legend or two to take him down.

Maybe the return of Edge happens in this manner, or maybe, just maybe, Goldberg returns next year to challenge Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, saying that he is a legend that the big one cannot kill.

Or maybe someone like Tommaso Ciampa comes up from NXT someday in the future and says that it is his job to end the legend of Randy Orton once and for all, building on their Twitter feud.
